Alright, I guess what I'm getting at is to put a kit that represents the Army Rangers. Would they not be used for securing urban environments and buildings? Green Berets would be represented by the limited kit. I guess for the Marines it would be the Recon Battalion and Force Recon?
Why? The M16 has the highest ROF in the game for an assault rifle. Body armor and burst is perfectly acceptable for the vast majority of situations.
The reflex sight affords me a full field of view which allows me to see people coming in from side rooms while I'm covering the stairs. I also do not need to waste any time pulling iron sights up when I see an enemy. Again, the recoil is also easier to control.
1. Yes, it is rather. It would require a complete turn around in US doctrine reguarding fully automatic weapons and regular units.
Hmm, I dunno. I provide this quote from an article on the Force Recon website:
The M4A1 Carbine Close Quarter Battle Weapon (CQBW) is the standard weapon for those in the reconnaissance platoons. The current Marine Corps wisdom is that the M4A1 Carbine is to supplement, rather than replace the M16A2 (just as the MP5N sub-caliber machine gun did) in the Force Reconnaissance Companies. This may soon change as the Marine Corps is considering replacing all M16A2’s in the Marine Corps with the M4/M4A1 Carbine or the M16A4. The impetus for this move is the growing trend of MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain) worldwide.
2. Learn. Adapt. Survive. Its a limitation, deal with it.
I will, by picking the M4A1 for CQBs.

Note that Bob said "regular" units. Force Recon isn't exactly a "regular" unit, is it? And the quote says M4/M4A1 (meaning that it'll quite possibly be the M4) or the M16A4, which has three round burst mode.

Remember PR isn't geared at all towards Spec Ops in the least. The only reason the class is still in there is to help noobs from vanilla move up...though I see regulars using it from time to time...its less effective in trained hands than a standard rifleman though (body armor). Marine Recon is the marines spec ops guys. As far as everything else...woot to the A4, its coming in .7...dunno about M4 stuff.

Hopefully the DEVs will make the SF kit limited to stop the kind of mental attitude shown in this thread.

Please stick to the topic, so what do you guys think the marines will get in .7?

I was suggesting kits to represent SOF units.

The M16A4 is just part of keeping up with the times. The bold part is what you need to think about. If we can't get the M4A1 as a standard kit then the M4 (with similar optics) might be almost as good. Can't say for sure since we haven't seen it in game. What do the Marines use right now when clearing buildings?

You mean the attitude of wanting to use the right tool for the job?

Yeah but the standard issue rifle for the Marines is a m16a4.

The fact is that the M4 is preferred for clearing buildings. You haven't shown any evidence that they use M16s when clearing buildings is a vital part of the operation. I know they check houses quickly with it when on patrol.
Hopefully I don't have to explain the difference between being in a room and clearing a building...

Yes, but I think there would be a difference between checking out houses which may or may not have enemies and taking control of a building that has a known strong hostile presence. Maybe I'm wrong on this..
Thanks for posting some evidence (although it still just looks like small houses.) Why doesn't the USMC officer kit get the M4, as they do in RL? Maybe it'll come along with the Army ones? Hopefully they get the same type of reflex sight..

lol sorry for off topic but this reminds of something I saw on telly a while back.
"See, the Americans got Iraq all wrong. It was badly planned for the outset, they should have followed our lead. I mean, we sent in the Desert Rats, for obvious reasons. Who did they send in? Bloody Marines. Water soldiers, in the middle of a bloody great desert. What the f**k?"

Small houses or not, they are still usin them. The other video shows that they practiced room clearing with M16A4's also.
