there are some good tutorials out there. both the Glock and the Beratte one - I'll dump some links in a bit. after watching the first two of the beretta videos I was able to make most of these things + I had help from a friend who has worked with a lot of 3Ds Max.

well, all danish branches of the military uses the C7A1 and the norwegian special forces do to, so I was mostly thinkging about them - and I dont know if the swedish are even in afghanistan/iraq. but sure would be fun with 3x spawnable kits, C7 for denmark, G3 for norway, AK5 for sweden. Maybe I'll start to model it later on, but not right now since I have other stuff to do :D
Indeed I am! Yeah, I understand, you should model the stuff you want/need to model not anything else. But if you want to model the Ak5 I could help you with reference pics and stuff. Just give me a PM or anything.

ah, what the heck ;) if you have xfire just add me, or msn.
you can find some good pictures of it so I can get started ;)

best pics are: stright from the side of the weapon, and if you can: top/bottom and front/back - but any other good pictures of details and from all kinds of angles are good with me :)

EDIT, I might aswell put my newest baby right here instead of spamming posts :D

Here is a little project I've been working on for a little while, HK USP. Whats special about it? well this will be my most detailed model to date since it will be used in a small movie my childhood friend is working on. Fortunatly I have a accurate airsoft USP to help with the details. Its still only like 40% done but its beginning to take shape :D

EDIT #2: no this will never be in a game :D its already over 2K tirs :D

I just figured that they could afford T-90s and the BTR-90, as well as the havoc meant they could afford to splash out a little  .

made a compilation of all my handheld models again since I have worked a lot on the C7A1, C7A2, C8A2, LSW and HK USP.

Made them more of a wallpaper style this time :)

no, I havent. if you are refering to the bullets, then its just my homebrewed copper material I used on them. but I will start skinning it now since I havnt heard or seen any progress on it since it left my hands.

That's some sweet stuff dude :p I just got the 3dmax trial, and it's easier than I expected it to be, but I honestly don't think that I'll be able to make anything like that soon. :(

I too was surpriced over how easy it was to get started.
And dont worry, I've only been modeling for like 3 months or something, I'll see if I can dig up some good tutorials I used in the beginning.
However Dfox and a few others kind of wants me to do a mini-tutorial. I'm still considering it, but I guess I could show new people - like myself, how I do stuff and what I find usefull (before it becomes too normal)

Oh yea - and another thing. A big part of making your stuff look "good" is by rendering it the right way. just look at some of the first pages of the Negev thread ;) (that was my 4th model ever)

http://video-tutes.com/packages/3d1.php is the collection of tutorials I have been using.

I mainly used it to figure out how to place stuff, that kinda stuff. Then a trick I learned from EVE online (if in doubt, right click), led the way to figuring out how to start messing around with meshes and polygons. I can make stuff now, now I just have to figure out how to make decent stuff :p

How many hours a day do you spend modelling btw?

Well I started out because I was curious and facinated by 3D models. And now I'm afraid I'm adicted :( I just love it. I currently have ~10 weapons WIP, ~8 vehicles WIP and 2 dinosaurs WIP going :D

I guess when I have time for it, the hours just fly away. I'd estimate it to a mean of min. 2 hours a day now, but it wasnt always like that, in the beginning I was fustrated a lot, but dont give up and I'm sure you will make it just fine :)

if some of you guys still want me to make a quick video tutorial, which could be fun - help me chose a weapon/vehicle/equipment to do.

The criteria: It shouldnt be too detailed, cause I dont have much time, and we dont want the file size to be too huge.

So far I have ~4 candidates that I think will be quick to do:

AK5 (FN FNC variant)
Image

MP5SD (but I wont be able to show all of the stuff I usually do on this weapon)
Image

M82A1 (its already ingame, which dosnt matter, this is just to show how I do stuff. And it will be rather easy to do)
Image

Or maybe the ASPB gunboat I was planing on doing anyway - this will be a rather long tutorial I fear.

Image

EDIT:

Strike that gunboat and let it be the C-130 instead
a very stripped version that it!

Did the first part of the video tutorial, barrel and handguard basically done. Unfortunatly the sound from my amazingly crappy mic was so bad you could pretty much only hear static. So I'll switch to my laptop instead (tomorrow) cause its almost 3am here now.

So Z's rifle video tutorial comming up. Should be done tomorrow if I can get some quiet time from my girldfriend :)

Hey, Z-trooper, how do you get that shiny reflection effect on the "floor" of the render?

he made it with photoshop i think just transform the image you want and put it vertical too the other picture and thereafter make the opacity down too around 50 % or soo.
