Bring the rifle across at 45 degree to body and aiming 45 degrees up into the air. No one has mentioned this so far, you cannot naturally reload the rifle with it pointing straight outwards, not unless you have two elbows in your right arm!
Thats the norm. on ranges to keep the rifle pointed down range.
visually inspect top and using your thumb make sure the rounds are pushed towards the cap end in the mag and give the spring a push (testing mags workability)
Just a visual inspection.
tip rifle to left and check the round went down, bolt went forwards fully and hit the dust cover with your left heel pad to ensure locked in fully (throwback to A1 days)
Not the dust cover, you are tapping the bolt to ensure it is fully forward :)

Spot on mate, is that the L22??
'[R-PUB wrote:MrD;682720']
1) pop the catch on your ammo pouch
2) Bring the rifle across at 45 degree to body and aiming 45 degrees up into the air. No one has mentioned this so far, you cannot naturally reload the rifle with it pointing straight outwards, not unless you have two elbows in your right arm!
3) Press the magazine release catch (can't remember which side it was on now)
4) pull mag out and slide into pouch
5) pull full mag out
6) visually inspect top and using your thumb make sure the rounds are pushed towards the cap end in the mag and give the spring a push (testing mags workability)
7) insert mag
8 ) hold bottom of mag and push to ensure in fully
9) aim rifle towards enemy and pull down the round knob on the left side of the rifle to release the bolt so it goes forwards and shoves the first round from the mag into the barrel
10) tip rifle to left and check the round went down, bolt went forwards fully (by striking it with the heel of your hand) and hit the dust cover too to ensure locked in fully (throwback to A1 days)
11) good to go (after clipping your mag pouch back up)
Just remember, a trained infantry soldier, can do this fooking fast!

in peacetime, yeah the rifle stays downrange at all times. Just rotate your body during the movement so bringing the rifle up to change mags it is still pointed downrange! The most crucial time for problems comes (if you know not to put your finger on the trigger till ready to fire) when you press the release catch to make the bolt fly forwards. The rifle can jump and accidents might happen. very rare though. Never saw an unintentional ND myself though. Once everyone was trained to use the rifle with blanks everyone knew how to make rifles safe. Seen the odd handover of a rifle with a round in the chamber, but that was training and handled very carefully by the instructors.

The A1 had problems with dirt. The Cocking handle needs slamming to ensure it went forwards correctly. The dustcap needs knocking down too. The A2 doesn't really suffer from this, but as said, the drill is still done with the A2. Better your rifle fires when it really needs to than discovering you need to do the drill then!

As for magazines, they were always quite sensitive to loadout. Jumping around all over the place you found that the rounds moved and jammed in there and wouldn't load correctly. I always loaded up with 28 rounds to avoid the spring issue in general and made sure the rounds were knocked to the cap end in the magazine at least in the first few where the tension from the magazine spring was greatest.

added to the image to show the knob that gets pulled down, only travels a couple of centimeters. it is very stiff normally. it lets the bolt on the right side of the rifle fly forwards. it is used when a mag is completely expended as the firing bolt locks in the rear position

can't have two reload animations for a weapon in BF2 so probably best to stick with this method. if you don't fully expend a mag and simply replace it with another one, the firing bolt is still forwards holding a round in the barrel and no need to fiddle with the locking knob.

incidently, the knob just lower and rear is the firing selector. In that position it is in single fire mode. You turn the knob to lay straight with the rifle for full auto (FIBUA/trenches only generally, since it only takes 2.5 seconds to expend a full mag)

and no0w everyone knows how to reload the weapon, let's hope no one has to use one in RL :)

spot on, however i disagree with you saying its stiff, it does need a bit of pressure, but it certainly isnt stiff, just push your thumb down, safety off, KAPEESH yous is shooting1

I think the animation is good though it needs some more harsher movements!

As in the one which we use now?? cos if so, it is visually wrong, you can't **** a SA80 with your right hand, you must do it with your left

just about perfect. I would go with a rifle brought across towards you to do it, since no ones arm is capable of doing the actions without a second elbow joint there, but technically correct now and about fast enough.

looking good but still some issues.

The mag check to see if it has any rounds in it looks really odd, it looks like the player is just bring his arm up in a really odd way and not really looking at the mag cos its constanly moving, watch the QBZ with UGL reload animation, take note of the mag check in that. thats the reload of the rifle, not the UGL btw but it needs to be the QBZ version ;)

I would suggest is you bring the mag closer to the cam, point the top in the view of the cam, pause it for 1/2 a sec and put it in the rifle.

the other bit is that with the rifle being strait vertical and forward looks really odd when putting the mag in tbh... tilt it to the right a little and bring the rifle up a little I would say. If you watch the video you notice both, mostly a tilt to the right but also a little tilt upwards, but very slightly. There is about a 30degs tilit to the right so do that :D

the rest is really good, apart from I would say maybe more of a obvious forward push on the forward assist may be good :D

Agreed, is very good, and Rhino has it covered lol Also as a plus for head movement to stay, COD4 has head movement and i like it!

Is this enough tilting?
