Much.
You're gonna have to explain that acrobatic ability to me.

This doesn't make any sense...
Helicopters should easily be able to land on 10 degree cross-slopes, or even more. Avoiding slopes all together would make no sense.

Lol, that youtube video is pretty funny. Never knew that was possible. You must be a HUGE geek to practice so often to be succesful at that stuff.

We can not change the reading on the HUD, that is hard coded into the engine....
I dont think that is what you are trying to say but that is what your saying in your post...
Lol, its getting slightly sad.
Hes saying that the chopter moves too fast when the HUD is showing 800. But when the speed on the HUD is 350-370 the chopter speed is alright.

No, you just misread my post. I'll explain AGAIN: The rate of movement when you look outside of the chopper to the ground, is TOO high when it reads 800 on the HUD. It should be more like the rate of movement when the HUD reads 350-370. Get it now?
But never mind, as I said before: Speed is the most minor problem with choppers in PR right now.
*sigh* x2
I know that's what your saying, so cut the condescension. My last post was just a response to you 'not complaining about the HUD readout', which you quite clearly were.
Maybe actually read my posts yourself? My earlier post addressed the relative movement of the chopper to the ground, but of course, that wasn't what you meant either . I said, almost explicitly, that 350-370 on THE HUD is too slow a speed in-game, whereas greater speeds are more appropriate when compared to real life footage, such as the youtube vid i posted. The problem with looking at things from inside a moving vehicle is that it doesnt give you as good a perception of speed as you are actually doing from a 3p perspective.
I also said in my last post, that the likely reason you think this is because the maps and view distances in VBF2 are tiny, giving an illusion of speed. As i said, compare this and put that chopper on Kashan, and you will notice how slow it is.
Anyway, i await killpirates judgement on the actual physics. Clearly they're quite off, but i wouldn't say they're quite as bad as VBF2.

Duke is actually on the money here. One BF2 speed unit roughly equals .33ish KPH IRL, so you can divide the HUD readout by 3 and get the actual speed. Flying low (as in BF2 and PR) will make it appear a lot faster. And in most vids, do the choppers actually move at max speed all the time, every single time?
Now everybody ease up on the attitude, or there will be infractions and/or bans. And I mean everybody.

[R-DEV]~KILL~Pirate wrote:Ok everyone just noticed this whole thread on PR flight physics etc... Basicly heres the bottom line IMO about PR flight. Its impossible to 100% accurately simulate the flight physics of an actual Blackhawk helo with the bf2 engine. I have never been that much of an in-game pilot when it comes to vbf2 or PR because flying with buttons pretty much sucks and I never bought a nice realistic flight cyclic. I just recently purchased one and I am setting it up tonight to do some technical data flying to settle this once and for all. I am taking into consideration engine limits vs RL flying experience/handling, takeoff rate of climb, deceleration, level flight speed, handling etc...
I will also test vbf2 vs PR vs POE2 in all aspects of flying. I will give an honest and unbiased evaluation in order to create the absolute most accurate flying physics possible for PR....
The most important to me is gonna be Rate of Climb and Level Flight Speed. Handling is more complicated because of the bf2 engine limits compared to actual fly-by-wire controls used in todays helicopters.

How is the testing going..?

I would say i have never really had much problem with the flight physics in PR, i certainly prefer them to that of BF2. However, i have never flown IRL so what do i know. But i would say the physics seems believable (much more than BF2's) except for the rate of climb which seems way out in alot of cases. The other thing youve got to remember when flying in BF2 and its mods is that effectively your head is clamped to the helicopter as if in a vice so you see every little adjustment in movement it makes, unlike IRL.
Cue the false hope:
No, itll probably never be ingame because its fundamentally flawed, but we can dream.

You could, it'd just look really really really out of place.
Never flown or even been in a heli like most people, but that effect looks a bit OTT as awesome as it is, do you really keep your head that straight relative to the ground when you fly? It's a nice effect though, the exorcist like thing when he starts doing those corkscrews is a bit weird though.

Ya good suggestions hope they improve them, it would be cool if they gave the pilot a starter switch to start engines.

ofc you dont, basically its just trying to mimic what your head might do IRL, but seeing as you still have no control over it, it will never look right.
