I am looking into this map and I may be trying to get it done. Sounds like a good idea. But I cant really get any good shots on google earth.

I live in the area, i will try to give you all the info you will need, photos, terrain maps, information, etc.
I have a lot of stuff at home on my computer you can get(I'll be back tomorrow 14.april).

I will take a look on my files when I arrive at home. I will may squeeze the map plans a bit to make it easier to make
I think it will be nice if we can make a map where the Norwegians can fight for defending their own country against the hardcore Russians
Some air, tank, inf, etc battles
I will do every thing i can to help the mappers in their job, on this map...

Problibly you have to make it outside the biggest cities or get a modeler to work on some house models. When I played the norwegian map in WIC, I felt that the smaller harbortowns is what you shoudl go at, then you can get 3 or 4 models of tree houses and boat houses, with tree docks. And then possibly give Norwegian the jets and give the russians the tanks/helis perhaps. Would seem way off with two airfields.

Yeah, I agree with Zimmer, there's no way we can pull off the original post's map layout anyway... What part of northern norway will go for will be clarified as soon as Halvor's back
(ref pics from Pleym is still gold, get out of your house and take some new ones as well, aim for open areas/vallies)

I will also make a plan you can use, it will maybe be ready at Wednesday, I just need to get my *** back up to Northern Norway
Well we have to remember that its not possible to get a 100% match with the nature, but we can try so good as we can
On the town, just make some few tree houses and place them next to each other
Well I'll work out some thing to Wednesday(evening)
There is no need to place 100000 houses, just some few.
The landscape is huge plains like this, there is not so much hardcore mountains:

I think now when we are up in the North then it would be awsome with snow battle! Make something different then all the others map. If we have a mapper problem that can't make snow, then we should talk to PoE bf2 mod. They have made AWSOME snow maps and are really good at it.
Also if we get a mapper to make a Russia vs. Norway well cool, but he/she should decide how it will look like. We can come in with suggestion and that, but if I could make a map then I would never make a map that somebody else have "designed"
So maybe we should try to get mapper(s) who want to make a Russian vs Norway and let them do the rest.

I guess you wan't have much succes there, since there is not much activity left anyway.
But you could aks the guy who is making this fun mod called wookie sniper mod. He also explained us how he managed to design snow maps. If you like, I can mybe send you this description ;

That's exactly what we're doing already
As to a snowmap, I'm gonna actually chek PoE's maps out, and if they're what we have in mind making, we might just ask them to us lend one!

I just imported some real terrain into the bf2 editor, it are about 4x4km at N70E27 or something like that in the north of norway, "close" to your scenario I guess:
If you look on the minimap, you know why I'll never work on that terrain. It's in the middle of nowhere actually and you couldn't do much on this map beside swimming
But I really like the idea of this map and I really like the idea of fighting battles in Norway.
So, I'll try to get some good satelite data, import the terrain and see if I start at least some basic work on it.
I can't promise you anything, but its better than having hundreds of people finding this idea great but doing nothing for it.
€: Ok I guess I have the right satelite data on my harddrive. So let's see wich area you actually want.
