Re: How Much would you pay?
60$ is nothing to the prices here so I would pay 60$+ its the game I have used most time on except maybe WC3 for many years ago.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.
"Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without an accordion. All you do is leave behind a lot of noisy baggage."

Re: How Much would you pay?
I would pay for PR as a game, to buy it in a store like I did BF2. However to help support a server right now no, why? Because if I was paying monthly what I would to run an MMO I'd always expect the following
Brainwalker, what the heck you going on about?Project Reality Forums - Donation User Agreement
II. Purpose of Donations
The sole purpose of accepting donations is to provide you a gateway to contribute monetarily to the Project Reality team in an effort to dampen the current out-of-pocket expenditures endured by the Project Reality developers. By using the Donation System, you understand and agree that you are making a voluntary, non-refundable donation towards Project Reality’s infrastructure costs.

I don't play PR enough anymore to pay a lot for it. I'd pay around $20 at the most, more than that, and it would end up on a wishlist or something.

Re: How Much would you pay?
Indeed I do have an attitude, is it a bad one? not really. I say things as I see them and as honestly as I can, even about myself so yes, I can be an *** at times.tlindy wrote:What does this have to do with my statement? Honestly until somebody makes everything perfect for you wont support anything? Nice attitude
Act better than anyone else here? I think you have some issues.
I find it absolute hysterical that people say I wouldnt pay anything for it (even though I love the game so much and the communitty), but I will play it for free, then ***** about it cause it doesnt go there way.
yeah your perfect place to play sounds great, but in the real world it doesnt happen. There is to much you cant control and there isnt anyway it will ever happen with public play!
What it had to do with your statement is the fact I thought/think you are a supporter of PR and pay out money for it, if you can't figure it out after that I am sorry.. and if I am wrong then I am sorry again.
Running a good PR server is not impossible, all you need are enough active admins so that there is always at least one on during peak hours of the day (Both NA/EU hours). Course those admins would have to be trusted people with a good sense of what is fair, but after that those admins need to be hard-*** on people. Someone asset steals? Ban them for 24 hours. They come back and do it again? 72 hours. Again? PERMA-BAN. Yeah people will ***** about it, but that's life and as soon as people see people actually suffering for their actions they'd all quickly fall in line.
We need a server with admins like above, and with tough rules like
1. MUST HAVE A MICROPHONE
2. NO ASSET STEALING (unless commander/team votes to disband the current asset squad)
3. NO BASE RAPE UNLESS AAS SAYS SO
4. THIS IS NOT A TRAINING SERVER
5. PLAY AS A TEAM, WIN AS A TEAM. LISTEN TO YOUR SL/CMDER
6 BE ON MUMBLE (Not needed I'd just like to see it)
First it's not brain, but everyone makes that mistake. Secondly when I stated I would buy the game like I would any other it was implying pretty much what you quoted about the "donations", the last part of what you quoted me saying was directed at the people running PR servers and those are the people/servers I would not pay at PRs current state of community/player-base.Dr2B Rudd wrote:Brainwalker, what the heck you going on about?
To keep it short I haven't the funds to be throwing around money and I appreciate what the developers have created. I don't feel so bad knowing the developers will eventually get back what they have put into the project since the better PR gets the better they get known and possibly hired on by some big-shot company to make a real stand alone PR.

This we agree on, I would love for it to happen but my involvement with our server says its just not going to happen with public play. I think there are some excellent servers out there who have very strict rules and well admined and you still have the problem. We have thought about passwording our server and try to move into a direction what your talking about, just not sure if we can maintain the interest to keep it populated as well as controlling the PW as sooner or later it will get to somebody who will pass it to another then smacktards! May i suggest you check out the PRT, its game play is what your looking for but it requires a tremendous amount of time.

Re: How Much would you pay?
They have the rules, but not the admins to enforce them properly. Even on the good servers it can take upwards of 20 minutes to see players be kicked.. and then they just rejoin in 5 minutes. Best example I have is when this one entire squad on UKWF kept TKing my squad for the technical, but then just kept doing it for no reason. There was an admin on who did nothing for well over 20 minutes as these guys kept at it. There is no way anyone could miss so many teamkill messages. I have no idea still if it was the server to kick them or the admin. Either way it was pathetic, not in the sense that it happened since I know it does, but in the sense the admin(s) took so long to act or did nothing at all.tlindy wrote:1. MUST HAVE A MICROPHONE

Same goes for people who create another asset squad because they didn't get into the first one, more often then not the admin does nothing.

Re: How Much would you pay?
If BSS moved to a different, modern engine, increased player cap to 256, enabled some kind of intersquad voip system + integrated something similar to mumble into the game, added a kickass chain of command comm system, added realistic ballistics etc, AND continued to add frequent updates with new maps/units I would pay $100-200 for it easily. Not because I have tons of money to burn but because it would probably mean I don't have to buy any other games for a LOOOONG time. It would be for me, in essence, the perfect milsim multiplayer game. If the above things were done, I think it would basically make PR's longevity basically infinite.
Think about it, can you imagine the teamplay we experience every day in PR on a company sized battle level??? It would be balls out amazing.
I'd love to see BSS pull off something similar to what Tripwire did with Red Orchestra.

I would pay at 30 dollars at the most, but if it didn't come with free Patches, no thank you.

I'd pay anything up to about £50 - not because I don't think it's worth more but It feels a bit extreme for any game.

I didn't buy BF 2 yet but I will when school stuff is over... Since BF 2 is pretty cheap now I would pay like 40 CHF = 37.4227 USD for PR without even playing it before.
After playing PR perhaps more when it's really THAT good
Oh and hi btw, see you guys soon

Re: How Much would you pay?
Now I know and love PR I wouls pay $60 for it - the problem is at the beggining it is so complicated and so hard to get started I probablly wouldn't have bothered.
The Wiki has been dead since I've been playing
The 'training' servers are very annoying...Kashan you are ALWAYS killed in about ten seconds by aircraft
Trying to learn helis on the other battleforce server Quinling i think warm up heli...boom by aircraft and again and again.
I very nearly gave up at the beggining.
I would guess the percentage of players that give up in the first week must be very high!
Maybe with the PRSP available this will make the start easier?
I am not critisizing PR it is great and the team do a great job. It is just very very very hard at the beginning and I of course came from VBF2!

I wouldn't pay for the mod as it currently is - but once they move to a new(er) engine, I will happily hand over £30/40 for it

I would play $60+ PR (ftw)
Because if PR was a game of it own it will be the best game ever!!!
Its now the best game ever but imagine how it will be without BF2 Stupid engine
I trust the Dev team and I believe that they can make a great engine with a greater game!
