Iran's military include the IRGC and IRIA
These are different
For example,IRIA Rifle is G-3 but IRGC Rifle is AK-47
IRIA use Zulfiqar and Chieftain and M series tank IRGC use the T series Tank
IRIA air force use the F/4/5/14 and mig-29 and mirage f-1 IRGC use the su-22/24/25
IRIA use the AH-1 and Bell Helicopter but IRGC use the Mil Mi series and panha 2091
also they have different uniform
In fact IRIA Training and weapons system is American and IRGC system is Islamic and Russian

Do you realise that during the Iran-Iraq war, Iraq was openly financially backed by non-secular Islamic states from the Arabian Gulf. Saudi Arabia being the main contributor? This was back when secular Iraq was governed by a minority of Shia Arabs too. The leaders of the Gulf Arab states (S.Arabia, UAE, Oman etc), would do anything to see the Persians decimated, almost as much as Israel so as to gain complete control of the region. Their ethnicity, at least in the case of Iraq's shia Arabs, appears to come before religion if that war is anything to go by.

If Shia Arabs (backed by Sunni Arab money) were happy enough to go to war against Shia Persians, I don't think it's much of a stretch of the imagination to put the Sunni Arab world (including an Iraq now mostly controlled by it's Sunni majority) up against Shia Persian Iran.

Iran_Iraq is just the most well-known example. Other inter-Islamic wars include various conflicts between Chad, Sudan and Libya, and Qatar's conflict against Bahrain in the 80's. All of which are majority Sunni countries.

As for Hamas in Palestine, well there is an obvious common interest in the destruction of Israel there. Added to that, the Arabs of Lebanon/Jordan/Syria pose no real threat to Iran, like the oil-rich gulf Arab states do. Then there's Hezbollah in Lebanon, who are a Shia group, and like Hamas are no threat to Iran's influence in the region.

tl;dr - Arabs and Persians aren't friends and have never really got on particularly well.

EDIT: forget that, I was thinking of Afghanistan.

Why do the Iranians have two totally different militaries? The USA has marines and army but they server different roles. Why does Iran need two airforces aswell??

I'm also wondering, what is the purpose of two complete armies? Would it be that one is under national control while the other one is under another, let's say ''religious'', power's control?

well, if list of equipment that guy posted is correct i think main reason is supply\maintenance, if you look at it IRIA uses western equipment and IRGC - soviet

IRIA and IRGC different roles For example IRIA like USA army and IRGC like marines. Of course the Americans very different

and in the west of Iran is Iraq and this mean Al-qaede

Seeing how devs gave priority to OPFOR comfacs, i'm sure that after those main comfacs are released in 0.9 (IDF seems to be close to complete overall), there is going to be some workforce available for at least one of the 3 factions.

At a certain extent, looking at how MEC and IRIA are similar asset-wise : why not give MEC the assets of current ''Arab'' armies proposed along with IRIA, while IRIA would be the one with the G3, MG3,... etc?

Yes finally an alternative to the MEC which the Iranins are quite realisitc to fight with the USA

Hold on!? where? Estonians never used Gaz-39371s. In Afghanistan we have Pasi XA 180EST APCs, some UNIMOGs, some Mamba avis-4s and MAN 4520 trucks. That should be all.
