ok it just ctds for me evrytime i finish loading the level.

First of all McLuvs instructions dont make sense, read them. They instruct so you end up with three seperate pr_ca folders in ure BF2/mods - that can't be right

I think maybe instead he meant to say, extract the first folder into bf2/mods, then the remaining two go, in order go over bf2/mods/pr_ca to bring it up to date.
But then that doesnt really make sense either as what do you need the first file for, just contains outdated levels file by my logic.

Either way its not working for me. I followed Mcluvs revised guide to the letter, please explain what i'm doing wrong

During the testing phase we usually are updating files several times a day, as well as the server. So you will pretty much have to download file updates constantly as we near completion.

Download base, extract into mods.

Download update, extract into mods.

Copy pr shortcut, rename "pr" in the target to "pr_ca".

If that doesn´t work, xfire is alex4176.

If you've literally just updated in the last few minutes then that might explain my problem, note im downloading from the links posted in McLuvs guide, which hasnt been edited.

You really should alter the wording of that guide tho, other not so savvy people will end up with 3 different pr_ca folders
Also dont assume that by pressing extract the archiver will update each individual item in each folder, mine gives me the option to replace the whole thing or create a new folder, i had to go through by hand updating each little changed in each subfolder...which was a waste of time as it still didnt work

Edit: Ive just seen McLuv post on CA forums saying he's going to update the guide, hopefully he'll post a link to a fully updated pr_ca folder as it should have been from the start.

Yup, I've updated it with images so that it's as easy as pie. It's hard because different people join in at different times so not everyone knows how to update and such.

Anyways, here it is ----> combinedarms.myfreeforum.org :: READ - INSTALL GUIDE

I play in armor 90% of the time, and the automated turret thingies now make it too easy and too irrealistic for me to even consider trying it. I'll stick with my PR 'Vanilla'.

Tactical > Technical skill. I am sure you are good with a mouse, but I don't really care.

CAS whats the target group of this mod?
I know its not for me. Lets not repet again why. But i really dont know whats your "target".
I mean a racer targets car funs, a real time strategy is for tactic "lovers", an adventure wants "logic" funs.
Whats your target? What kind of community you want?

And how you will "attract" them? What feature of this mod will attract the players you like to see?

PR with more realism (within engine limits) and teamwork, probably geared more towards those who enjoy true combined arms with vehicles.

The infantry seems to work well too. The guns work well in CQB. Probably since you added tracers to every bullet.

Why no sprint?

The tracers are on every round because that's the only way for us to implement ballistics + zeroing, well that or no tracers but I picked the more fun one.
Kirra wrote:Why no sprint?
I'll just explain that and the rest of the movement changes while I'm at it:

1. The amount of gear you are/will be carrying will be in the 75-100 lb region. So while a rifleman or crewman could sprint (a bit) faster, the SAW gunners, HAT, LAT, and other soldiers probably wouldn't.

2. In CQB find it more useful to be able to raise your scope and walk at a decent clip.

3. You're not going that slow anyways. 3m/s is a good jog. I will probably make it a bit slower.

4. You also may notice that the deviation for standing and crouched positions is identical. This is because that people only stand and fire when they are leaning on a tree, a window, or a fence or something. Players in the open just dive to the ground 90% of the time. And if they don't, well you picked better cover right?

@Nemus, the target group should be obvious. That is myself.

Combined Arms isn't "geared" to attract any certain type of players. Sometimes an adventurous wants to play an hardcore realism game. Sometimes an hardcore realist gamer wants to play an unrealistic adventure game. Heck I even enjoy a couple rounds of team deathmatch of COD4 on my xbox while still enjoying Falcon 4, Arma and etc. If a person tries out CA and likes it , well that's great. If a person tries out CA and hates it with all their might, well to bad. That's just something you obviously can't control.

The target of the addon is to bring the realistic features of weapons and vehicles making them as deadly as to their real counterpart ,i.e. an attack chopper should fly like an attack chopper and not hide high up in the sky's "unrealistically" . This is by far not a mod made for "flyboys and tankers" by "flyboys and tankers". For anyone who doesn't know CAS personally. CAS use to be in charge of JCOMS(Joint Commando Section). This was the special forces group of NATO 2 made up of 4 people. Sure you might see him fly around in a server every now and then but when it comes to infantry, he is an better squad leader/rifleman than PR pilot but I'm not here to tell you life story's.

Features of the addon will attract anyone who wants to try it because Combined Arms is different from Project Reality. You'll be able to do most of the features an F-16 could do or an Tunguska could rip apart. It just simply different. Combined Arms isn't planned to be another spammy version of BF2, no we're not aiming for that. The more we test Combined Arms, we find that it takes more strategy, elite communication and more virtual combat awareness than ever. In some of the tank battles you might have seen, the T-72'S ownrizzle the convoy of M1's every time. They simply had better tactics as they were spread apart and we were close together. Throughout the whole time we were still, every tank was scanning like crazy . If we had communicated more and spread out we probably could have survived their attack. Its not a matter of point and click.

Combined Arms 1.0 is primarily going to be vehicles changes, which is not something new. 2.0 will be more focused on infantry as we already have discussed/started some cools plans for infantry.

Hopefully I answered all your questions, If there is anymore just go ahead and spit em out.
