Well you could easily get a small squad build a firebase near an important area of a river, build the bridge and guard it.

Especially on Jabal where the North Bridge is a vital asset that can't be lost.
Also I build FOs with sole intents of playing defensively while other squads attempt an attack.
Yea,the one bridge near the city of Jabal is usually where when i play as the MEC is the place where we always defend and put up a defence, the bridge is always blown and the USMC guys are left dead in the city. But the defence of a key bridge is always important like the one on Qwai or the 2 on Jabal.

Will the bridges be destroyable by incendiary?
If so, I imagine that a deployable bridge would be quite a potent trap for armour (destroy other bridges, build fob, deployable bridge, remove fob, incendiary when armour crosses).

no, they can only be destroyed with high explosives.

Remember, you can only blow up the bridges with HIGH explosives....

Wow, gameplay IMPACT, nice. any plans on making it constructable so it won't deploy instantly?

it dosen't deploy instantly as it is right now, thou the deploy time is somewhere between 10secs.
We where going to have it so the player had to hold down the fire button for xx amount of time but without being able to add any sound or visual que we felt that it would be far too confusing for players who didn't read the manual and would just think nothing was happening after they had tapped the button, or how much longer they had to hold the button for etc. Only once the projectile had fired do you get a sound
We could make a longer delay till the bridge is deployed after the bridge has been dropped by the truck but the truck could have driven off and would be long gone by then where really if we want there to be a delay we want the truck to sit there for that delay.

It would be nice if the engineer wrench was required to turn the bits dropped by the truck in to a useable bridge tbh, brings the engineer kits usefulness back up and makes it harder to build CSBs, which sounds good to me

but as stated in my blog post that would be unrealistic since these bridges can be fully deployed via the bridge launcher without anyone outside to help, otherwise there would be no point in r/l of an armoured bridge launcher if you had to get out to set up the bridge or have someone outside.

ah all because the launcher can bring the big pieces to put together doesn't mean that you won't need a bunch of REMEs to come and actually put it together?

Watch from 1:25
And yes Top Gear was the best vid I could find on it but it clearly shows the bridge being 100% laid with only the Titan itself (although saying that they did cut the bit out in that vid where they also put in the extra middle bits you can just see when Clarkson drives over the bridge but these are not necessary for the bridge and just helps with things falling off though the middle in r/l), as confirmed by our MAs as well. All the combination bridging is is just putting one bridge on top of anouther, which dosen't require any "putting it together" as you put it.

Really looking forwards to CSBs. Think I might start doing dedicated logistics once this is in.

Please do not insult The Corps of Royal Engineers by reffering to us as a bunch of spanner monkeys
RE Armoured Engineers lay the bridges using TITAN or field mice build the other version ABLE using the relevant trucks, whereas REME (w)Reck Everything Mechanical and Electrical
[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:In real life CSBs are deployed by a specialist bridge laying vehicle, such as an Armoured Vehicle Launched Bridge (AVLB) such as the TITAN and the M60A1, but CSB can also be deployed via a Tank Bridge Transporter (TBT) which is pretty much a Truck that can carry and deploy CSB.
Not quite correct as the TBT is only a transporter of fresh bridges for the TITAN and cannot deploy the bridge for use. The TBT carries either one No.10 or two No.12 bridges for the AVLB to collect and deploy. With the bridges normally carried closed until ready to drop from the TBT.
