we warn people quite often, however people seem to ignore those warnings, those that ignore them have to be kicked etc.

PR was not developed with a warn tracking system to tell us a person has been warned in the past. Without that, we have no way of knowing whether a person needs an escalation to a kick seeing how he was warned yesterday etc.

So, we have taken the FAIR and PROPER steps of PRE POSTING our rules on our website that everyone can see without even having to register on the forums. THIS way, we have warned everyone prior to them joining our server and thus, better game play.

You think the escalation to a kick was heavy handed but we warned you already, how come you completely ignored our warnings, did you do it on purpose so you could come here to complain? Seems logical since you already knew our rule on all chat.

After looking through that entire list of data on warnings and kicks I'll commend Toxic, York, Jolly, sgt.nass, and Jevski for their efforts in using the say command to warn people prior to kicking, that aspect of your admining is admirable.

Having said that, I'd like to cut down this data to that relevant to the date in question. Of that rather long list, the following occurred on the date Rudd was kicked. (Rudd's kick happened but is not present in this list, I'll assume that the search in question had the keywords "all chat" and that that particular phrase wasn't used in the kick message. Also missing is my earlier question posed to the admins just after Rudd was kicked that was "Isn't there usually a warning first?" to which the admins replied "There's been plenty of warnings" and to which I replied with my statement in the log below).

On this date, we see that there was a report around 00:00:49, and a warning at 19:14:30. My message soon after Rudd was kicked occurred at 20:51:34, almost 2 hours after the only warning on this date, which, based on the average length of PR rounds means it almost certainly didn't happen during the round in question (making my statement true) and it's not unlikely that that warning didn't occur even the round before the round in question. If there's anything else I can observe from the data you provided we can see that, as is the norm on virtually every other PR server in-game, many of your admins including those I commended above consistently make the reasonable choice to warn a player before kicking them for the minor offence of using all-chat. By your own server's standards, there is a well-known precedent of using the warn tool to effectively silence the use of all-chat instead of kicking first.

I will further surrender that you are absolutely correct in the observations that sometimes warns go unheeded and in all of those scenarios a kick response is an obvious and well-deserved action to be taken by the admins. In this scenario, however, there was no warning handed out, but of course that in itself might be misleading. To be sure the kick was unjustified we also have to look at the exact actions of the player and also ask about the reputation of the player in question, Rudd. First, the action. Was the action an excessive amount of all-chat spam? Was it vulgar and unreasonable in nature? The answer is no, the usage of all-chat (visible in it's entirety in Rudd's post) was a single line of chat and contained no direct attack with foul language. Secondly, does or did HOG have a history with this player being unruly or uncooperative whereby a kick without a warning was justified? For this question, I do not need any data. Rudd is a developer of PR itself and someone whom I've had the great pleasure to call a friend and to have gamed alongside for many years in the past. In all examples of behaviour that I've seen, he has always been co-operative with admins and mature in his dealings. If my opinion is in dispute, you need simply ask veterans of PR and those of the TG community and they would speak highly and fondly of him and back my view undoubtedly. I find it highly unlikely that any of the admins on your server had a negative prejudice of this player based on his reputation. Third, does the player (Rudd) play so regularly on the HOG server that he would have been exposed to a great deal or the majority of the data (kicks and warnings relating to the topic of all-chat) presented in Super's post and therefore should have known better? This too I can answer from personal knowledge and say that Rudd does not frequent PR in generally nearly as much as he used to at all let alone the HOG server specifically and almost certainly not on a daily basis. (Rudd may correct me here if I'm wrong).

Finally, you say that you have taken the steps in advance to post your server rules on your website. Such has been the course of action by every major, popular PR server that exists in PR today such as PRTA and [NEW] and every server of equal or higher standard that has existed in recent memory such as TacticalGamer and others. Despite this, all of these servers regularly serve or served warnings before a kick all the way up to offences as serious as teamkills let alone all-chat usage.

In conclusion, and having exhausted all approaches to justify the action, this kick was absolutely a heavy-handed response not only by the standards of the PR community as a whole based on my 7 years of playing on various servers run by a variety of different communities, clans, and tournaments in regions worldwide, but by the standards of your own server based on the data you have provided in your post. In future, I would politely request that you very carefully review the actions of your admins before sitting high upon your horse and attacking the character of a highly-regarded member of this community by posing the question that he did it on purpose just to complain in this thread.

Hello, I've just been banned from the server. I play on HOG all the time and never have any problems. I was playing on Muttrah, there was a chopper sitting there so I jumped in it with a pilot kit. Trans squad was locked with 3 players in it even though they were all flying in their own choppers. The map had not long started so it wasn't as though there wasn't a lot to do. I asked if they would unlock trans, by the time I got a reply I was already mid-flight. Then I was killed through the command line by an admin, mid flight, causing the chopper to land and crash over North City, then I was banned straight after. I didn't even get the chance to return the chopper. It seemed a bit harsh to be banned for something like that. I always play fair on the server and try to encourage team work. Can I have the ban revoked please?

First, ban appeals go to our forums.

The ban was a temp ban which lasts 3 hours. Im working on finding out why you were temp banned.
I would suggest visiting our rules page: =HOG=: PR Server Rules and follow those as it will help limit you showing up on admins radar.

Keep in mind the rules, you cant just take a vehicle etc just because you want to. I dont know any server that allows that.

I didn't realise the ban was only a temp ban. I've no reason to take it to the forums if that's the case. I've played on HOG for a good while now and never had any problems before. I think I've played on the server long enough to understand the rules and I always try to encourage teamwork and playing the game properly.
I respect the fact that I was in the wrong for taking the chopper. But it was just sitting there, someone was in the Osprey, and there was 2 other pilots flying choppers. So I didn't see why I wasn't allowed to join the trans squad. I asked if they would unlock and then instantly took off with 2 guys on board asking to be dropped off. Then I was instantly killed via the command line, mid-flight, along with the 2 guys onboard and the loss of the chopper. At the time of being killed there was a message at the top asking me to return the vehicle, but I didn't even get the chance to! I was killed at the same time by an admin. Then about 3 seconds after I got banned. I would of returned the chopper if given the chance. I just thought the kill and ban was a bit harsh.
Anyways, I have no reason to try and take this any further if the ban is only temporary. Thanks for the quick response and pointing that out for me, it's much appreciated!

Yeah, no prob, the squad leader doesnt have to let anyone in if there is no more need for pilots. If they are able to handle the load then he is not required to let anyone in and you should try joining an unlocked squad and leave the assets.

I know the guy got promoted before I even joined the famous "Recon" sqd, that usualy does nothing to help the team.

When I joined I asked him why he kept respawning and dying doing the same useless thing over and over, now that we were losing our last flag, and instead of spawning to defend that, he kept going towards a supposed fob 3 flags behind the current flag. He kept answering that he just got SL, but he had respawned 3 times so far as SL, and still he did, spawn, run, die. I actually was curious as to why he kept doing it. Every one was yelling to defend last flag, and he kept doing the nothing to change tactics at all.

Even though he didnt want to squad lead, he should himself have spawned at the last flag and defended, and as to my question he wasn't able to answer me. Im sorry but in my opinion players who cant think beyond that level shouldn't be playing PR.

But to quote Star Wars, "Who is the bigger fool. The fool or the fool who follows him"

If im in a sqd where the SL continuously does nothing to help the team, I give him suggestions, and if he still is useless I leave the sqd. Im really curious, for I often see full sqds where they are of doing something 3-4 flags behind current one, not helping the team at all. And I wonder...wtf are the other 7 players in the sqd thinking...or rather not.

While i had very bad experiences with the admins on the server, i tend to get along with most of them.

There's still this one admin that likes to sit in prism and just watches until someone does something slightly against the rules just to insta kick / ban that person.

For example. Last round has been alot of allchat. People get warned and kicked. Next round, i write something in allchat whilst im dead, directed to a guy on the other side. I get revived, healed, etc. 5 minutes later, i get kicked for allchat. While im in combat, without warning. Great.

Now while i agree that the allchat rule has its place, a totalitarian and delayed enforcement for an allchat message that only the dead players can see is definitely not good admining. I talked to some admins after rejoining and they agreed. Yet some people still need the power it seems.

I wonder if that was the same admin like yesterday, who would sit bored in prism AND SPAM useless shit by using admin messages. he was literally ALLCHAT spamming with admins messages. I even asked him why he is spamming, but of course I didnt get an answer. he rather kept on spamming until he finally left to play some Squad. which of course he had to tell us via admin message as well.

there were incidents before that, which made me think about HoG admins, but now I really have to wonder about your guys capabilities of administrating a server in a mature way. seeing that admin spam yesterday and then read 3ti65's post here afterwards is just too much for me
