I'm not getting it, what is that effect/filter thing supposed to "simulate"? An old film?splatters wrote:LoL

Re: Picture Editing
I'm also not feeling it. The subject is unclear because of the edit, they are hardly visible. Unless you want this picture to be about the white line running diagional (edge of balcony) or the house with the satelite dish.

Re: Picture Editing
Its good but tone down the filter so things are more clearer, I'd sharpen the background as well, reducing overall blur.

Re: Picture Editing
I was going for the kind of old, over saturated and damaged film look, imperfect and blurry image shot on 35mm film with a large format disposable camera. Since there is no particular subject of great interest in the pic, more like a snapshot, it's about the general atmosphere and you're not supposed to be able to distinguish the smaller details (also the original image quality wasn't great either so a sharp image would have had .jpeg artifacts) liek this:

It's a heavy edit and far from what I've done previously, I can see why it doesn't please you but I rather liked it
p.s. There are no single filter or effects to tone down, it's all manual editing in photoshop, but I know what you mean by toning it down.

Re: Picture Editing
I found some old pictures taken with a toy camera in the '90s, that's what gave me the idea to this. Taking snapshots back then definately had more feel to it than nowadays and those low-fidelity pictures certainly have their own attraction. Miss those days
Anyway, I did some minor toning down and I do think this one is better. Sorry for spamming

Re: Picture Editing
Exactly! That one is a lot better. Cause it actually shows and tells some of a story. I did like the effect but it was hard to find what the picture was about. This one does that better

Re: Picture Editing
I really like the effect, but it would make more sense as a .gif, with teh film animating, and the screenshot zooming in. As a 1 frame picture it doesn't particularly work, but its a lovely try.

^ remember Rudd is drunk tonight, so his opinions are invalid see: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f388-pr-bf2-community-modding/104246-vehicle-rib-replacement.html#post1685319
Anyways, I think it was a very interesting effect Splatters. Maybe with some different screenies we can really see what it looks like.

In my opinion one frame picture makes more sense than an animation if the pic is supposed to have been taken with a disposable camera[R-DEV]Rudd wrote:I really like the effect, but it would make more sense as a .gif, with teh film animating, and the screenshot zooming in. A techincal detail for splatters; the area of the film where those holes are (edges) is not used for taking the photo, they should be black, i.e. there shouldn't be image around those holes, the whole photo should fit in between.

I think so, found it somewhere on this thread, or the screenshot thread, I thought it would fit well.Zoddom wrote:oh lovely EJOD desert amirite?

Re: Picture Editing
Yes, you're right but that's with the regular 35mm format. As I said earlier I tried to simulate a picture taken with a full frame toy camera but still on 35mm film.lucky.BOY wrote:A techincal detail for splatters; the area of the film where those holes are (edges) is not used for taking the photo, they should be black, i.e. there shouldn't be image around those holes, the whole photo should fit in between.
