To remain transparent, we would like to present the details that motivated us to revoke this server's license.
First, let’s clarify some terminology:
- PR differentiates between "accounts" (created through Steam) and "profiles" (created in the PR Launcher). Players may have multiple profiles per account, and all profiles belonging to a single account share the same hash. For a detailed comparison, please refer to the PR Manual, which explains both creating accounts and creating profiles.
- When we refer to "bots," we mean instances where the "1 PC, 1 player, 1 account" rule is not followed. In other words, one person controls multiple accounts that are simultaneously active in-game, artificially inflating the number of players on a server.
The first time U777 was caught using so-called "bots" to seed their server was in 2022. At that time, we received screenshots and audio recordings from internal Unit 777 communication channels, where the clan leader discussed using virtual machines and multiple fake accounts to seed the server. We compared this with master server data and confirmed its authenticity. As a result, the Unit 777 server license was suspended for 2 weeks. However, the server staff remained uncooperative and never admitted to using bots.
In January 2025, we once again began receiving reports of suspicious activity on Unit 777. Below is our reconstruction of events, based on the data gathered over the last few months.
- In late January, Unit 777 created 5 fake accounts—most likely controlled by an individual (or individuals) from clan management. The first account was created on the 21st, and the last two were created on January 29th.
-
- At the same time, 5 old/inactive (or semi-active) clan members were asked to delete their profiles, including their remote profiles stored on the Master Server.
This allowed those controlling the fake accounts to recreate the profiles formerly belonging to real Unit 777 members. These re-created profiles, now tied to fake accounts, were then used to seed the server. From an external perspective, everything appeared normal.
-
- In February, after we found initial signs that the profiles used for seeding belonged to fake accounts, we confronted the clan leadership. They denied any involvement in suspicious activity. We also requested server logs, which were provided in a form of screenshots. However, the logs on these screenshots were fabricated to align with Unit 777’s narrative and did not match master server or public tracker data. Future requests for logs were denied.
-
- Despite denying any wrongdoing, immediately after our confrontation, the fake profiles were deleted (including remote entries on the master server), and actual Unit 777 members were instructed to recreate their profiles using their original accounts.
This shift is clearly visible if you examine u777_daily_hash_timetable—on February 8th/9th, Unit 777 profiles switch from red (fake accounts) to green (genuine clan member accounts) and never appear in red again.
-
- However, Unit 777 did not stop using the fake accounts. Instead, they began using what we call "throwaway profiles"—often used just once, then deleted immediately afterward (including from the master server). These profiles were used solely to seed the server.
By the time the license was revoked, 81 such profiles had been created. Of these, 77 had fewer than 4 kills or deaths, and 43 had zero kills and deaths. They were typically used for 5–6 hours of seeding.
All these profiles were tied to the 5 fake accounts created in January. These accounts have virtually no legitimate in-game activity and cannot be traced to any real players.
In April, we released an announcement in the PR Hosting Discord, visible to all server license holders and moderators. Relevant parts of the message are as follows:
In the recent months, we have been analysing various reports on the state of the community. Our investigations into license agreement violations, and the unhealthy competition between servers, have left us deeply unsatisfied. We are determined to improve the continuously deteriorating situation. Moving forward, we would like to announce our expectations to all server owners and community leaders involved in our game.
(...)
2. You are expected to put an end to seeding manipulations. There must be no rule-bending and no room for speculations. It is in your best interest to ensure we have no doubts as to whether you gain unfair advantage in seeding your servers or exploit our good faith.
In accordance with the server license agreement, if we believe that any server does not meet our expectations and brings Project Reality into disrepute, we reserve the right to suspend server licenses at our discretion. (...)
Golden_Pilot, as the license holder, was personally asked to confirm that he had read, understood, and accepted the message—which he did. This was intended as a final warning, one last opportunity to change course before consequences would follow.
Unfortunately, neither previous license suspensions nor repeated warnings, confrontations, and discussions over the past few months were enough to persuade the staff to follow the rules. After 30 days, with no improvement, we made the decision to revoke Unit 777’s server license.
While this was not solely my decision, I take full responsibility for it.
