[R-CON]AfterDune wrote:There seem to be some problems with the night shaders. The glowing tanks still exist btw. Rhino tested with a 0.7 / 0.8 build, with all kinds of things mixed up, which doesn't use the new shaders. So the vehicles still glow.
It also tends to crash on a dedi box. Have yet to find out the exact reason, but might be shaders. The night shaders do't really work well in this release, hehe.
did he just change the sky.con or did he change that then re do all of the light maps too?

Yeah, that does suck pretty bad, hehe.
Anyhow, I crash on a Windows dedicated as well as a Linux dedicated server, just not on a local one. Odd.

Well Alex6714 and I could play the map fine on a dedicated server.
I don't think its a server related problem. There is just something wrong with your PR files.

It's obviously a client thing, which I've always stated.
There's something wrong with the night shaders in 0.7. And I can't explain why a local server works fine, but a dedicated one does not (for me). Prolly a combination of video settings, PR and video card or so.

Should all be fixed now.
Fixes include:
- Tweaking the groundhemi.dds (making the players/vehicles etc darker i.e. not glowing)
Without NVGs:

With NVGs:

- Editing this line in the sky.con, changing the map name from bi_ming to kashan_night:
Code: Select all
hemiMapManager.setBaseHemiMap Levels/kashan_nights/groundhemi 0.000000/0.000000/0.000000 2048.000000 500.000000
- If you are going to use someone elses sky/are going to rename a map you have to adjust this line by hand unless you later resave the groundhemi
- Fixed the view distance in the nightvision.con and the helicoptervision.con so they are now the same as the normal view distance in the daytime version of Kashan
- Tweaked the granularity of the helicoptervision.con to improve the view you get when flying
I find it quite amusing that after all the abuse I took over the night verion of bi ming at people are now using all my settings for a night map

They took months to tweak and get right, and look a damn sight more realistic than the special forces ones. Anyways, enjoy

I know you guys are only doing this for pr but it really if you are going to use stuff such as sky settings etc from someone else's map you should really ask first. Doesn't take much to do, but it does make a difference. No big deal, just something to bare in mind for the future

but with 0.81 OK?
Kashan night is ok in principle, but i hope the hard work that went into the Bi-Ming (night) map gets some credit in this map.

Guys, quick check - does this install okay into 0.756, or does it need a 0.708 install?

Works with 0.756. If anyone is crashing while loading because of shader issues let me know, I'll tell you how to fix it

Works fine. Only the map is required
