I'm pretty sure you can get some kind of scope on the 88, considering there are scopes on AK-74s and the Type 88 is no different from them.

Ohai Side rail! There you are, on that AK74.

Now, why wouldn't the type 78 optic mount on an AK74? Because it doesn't use the correct clamping mechanism for a 74 type side rail. It uses a clamp that attaches to side rails that are on SVD/Zastava type rifles.

If the Type 88 has no scope rail (I looked at every pic I could but the one of the gun dredged up from the spy boat wreck is the only Type 88 pic from that side) then we could always use the Type 98, a picture of which is on page 13 and is based off the AK-74M, which has a scope rail.

Type 98 is from what I can tell identical to the 88 apart from things like the scope rail anyways, no big deal other than the fact that I'm disappointed because until now I was always thinking of the Type 88. Such a cool number, shame we can't use it.

1. We don't know whether North Korea uses scopes, but as aperson444 said it's likely considering they spend half their money on the military. And we do know they at least can make their own scopes and do. The only question is whether they mount it on rifles, which the existence of the Type 98 suggests is true.

2. Not likely to fight? Are you freaking kidding me? The game has UK and US versus CHINA! An ally, and our biggest trading partner! Ignoring the fact that the DoD should know that it is impossible to beat them at least in their homeland, it is also economically ruinous to fight them. Does that stop half of all conventional maps being against China? Also, North Korea at least makes threats constantly and has a likely scenario in which they fight.

3. I can respond to what you say any way I want if you want to put your opinion out on the internet. Nobody else has a problem with that.

Actually we DO have a lot of information on their military forces.

The problem is that people cannot distinguish purely ceremonial weapons from actual weapons used by the Army.

North Korea is very secretive, but when it comes to military might, they show it off a lot. The only things missing are the reskins and new models we need to make, which is minimal, considering that NK uses old Soviet and Chinese weapons.

NK is the 4th largest military power in the world. I'd think that they arm their men pretty well. Scopes should be standards, but we should also make use of Ironsights.

North Korea borders two large military powers, and is very likely to invade areas of South Korea. We don't need a South Korean force yet. While we build that we can use UK or USA.

I will try to gather as much information as I can here, but I think our main problem is the scopes on the Type 88 or 98.

Despite the fact that China is the closest thing to a friend NK has I don't see them exporting military hardware at least these days.

All the arguments are not about what they have (well, in the beginning some people wanted them to use T-34 tanks, olive drab uniforms, and Type 99 machine guns, thank god those people are gone from this discussion), but rather to what extent.

The issue is not whether there are PSO type scopes that mount to AK brackets, which there are (I own one.) It's whether the N.Koreans possess Kalashnikov pattern weapons that have mounting rails, and whether they have scopes to accommodate said hypothetical weapons. The type 78 optic, as is, will not accommodate an Kalashnikov rail.
If there were more information on the type 98, I'd leave you guys alone, but assuming it has a rail, and therefore their use of optics, is a giant leap.

This can also translate to a handful of tanks, artillery, fortification projects, etc.

I'm so adamant about scopes because I think it's highly likely they have them. The Type-98 at least probably has a scope rail, it's one of the main features of the AK-74M. Pointless to make the 74M if you ain't gonna use the biggest advantage it has over the 88. Like buying a SOPMOD and putting nothing on it. And if they can't use a PSO-type scope for whatever reason, then maybe a POSP scope would do. I know it fits a wide variety of weapons (including 74s) and I'm sure it was widely distributed.

someone needs to just take charge of this project and make some solid decisions so some of these arguments can be put to rest. like the devs do, not everyone is happy with the decisions they make, but thats the decisions they make and everyone has to live with it unless they wanna do it on their own. same thing should be applied to a nk faction.

I would if nobody else would. The thing is it's just that judging by the fact I had to argue even to get the North Korean camouflage issue settled that some people are really desperate to basically nerf the North Koreans. The whole point is to have another, and an interesting conventional faction. Giving them the crappiest stuff imaginable (like the WWII vintage stuff people used to suggest) not only isn't realistic but it also kills gameplay and balance. What's the point of having another conventional faction if all their vehicles are deathtraps and they can't get within gun range of US troops because they have only ironsight uniforms and olive-drab uniforms?

That said, I am willing to compromise on most things if you can prove what they do or don't have.

Another thing, I've been wanting feedback on what APCs to use, the VTT-323 is said to be the most common APC in North Korean service but I wanted others' opinions too. Unfortunately everybody wants to talk scopes.

I know they have older stuff and should use some of that that old equipment, but some people are suggesting really old stuff that's passed probably beyond their reserves now. I mean, I'm not suggesting giving them the equivalent of an Abrams tank or anything. I'm just saying to give them the best of what they do have as long as they have significant numbers, like what PR does for the Chinese. Just basically more like the 0.85 Chechens with more assets like airplanes. I've said it before a couple times: Give them the same kind of stuff other conventional factions have, just older.

As for the olive drab uniforms, seems more like something they'd wear for formal occasions or guard duty to look impressive. That's why we see them more often than camo uniforms. But even in the 90's and maybe before they had camo uniforms, just that their older camo looks a bit too weird to use and I'm sure they replaced it with the ones in the recent pics we've been seeing.

Thanks for feedback on the VTT, I was thinking perhaps to use it instead of BRDM-2s because it uses the same weapons almost as the normal recon car and the anti-tank version, I have seen and NK BRDM-2 pics yet (the ones you linked to show BRDM-1s), and also I always thought it wasn't very useful in PR. Also, it could take the place of the BMP-1 instead.

I'm sure all soldiers in frontline combat units would be issued camo uniforms, but you are right, kits like pilot, crewman, and possibly engineer would wear drab uniforms. That was my idea from the beginning.
