Sorry for necromancing. It would be good to have short radiobeep sound on both sides while activating push button to talk to other SL's. That would indicate incoming chat from sl, which u wouldn't mistake for squadmate. And also ending beep, when he takes off his finger from chat button for the the guy to start answering.

Nice idea, I definitely support that! For now I would advise you to use an overlay. Helps alot and you'll always see who's talking to you.

This is already in the mumble settings. Look for it in settings under options on mumble.

Could you be more precise where exactly it's possible to turn on the radio sound at the beginning and at end of someone's else speech?
Many thanks.

Well that is a nice idea. For now you can do what I do and what really helps when on mumble (learned that from Generation Kill

): at the very beginning of your message you call i.e.: "this is squad 2 actual" and you end it with "over"

Give me the option to cut Squad Leaders comms when holding a key.

You mean like RL soldiers do it.
I (almost) always use the standart radio procedure used by militarys all over the world.
First say the squad you want to talk to get their attention, then say youre own squadname. If you want you can end it with over, but in PR its not as usefull as IRL.
For example: "CAS Squad this is Squad 4." then the response "CAS"
then you tell him what you want "enemy tank Lased at E 4 3 need air support."

Is it possible to add an option to hear other squads' communications, and to have control over the volume these are played at?
What I want is radio chatter to be present like we had in the older mumble, so the battlefield comms are not so dead. It's important for me to learn what the SL's and Commander on my team are like, and helps the team play better. It also allows me to know without asking the status of another squad, and their plans (i.e. if they are talking to Logi helis I know without asking that they are going to make a FOB). I find it a great way to judge character and offer to help other squads who are quiet because they don't want to 'spam the net' and are reluctant to start 1-1 contact with another SL (me).
If it's an option everyone wins, people that want to mute or quieten other SL's can do so, and people like me can still enjoy hearing the team communicate. I have a built in filter in my head and don't need Mumble to take away irrelevant radio chatter for me. Although as mentioned, personally I find it all mostly relevant in the greater scheme of things.
If people are told the new function is present then they won't get caught out saying offensive/racist stuff and being overheard, although they shouldn't be saying anything like that anyway.

i want to see "whilst other user's talk" button being enabled. AFAIK this deafens the sound of all other sound application ( when mumble is used) and you can clearly hear what your sl/sm are saying even when standing next to a heli.

Don't know if it's possible, but is lip-sync with character models possible on the Refractor 1.0 Engine with Mumble?
Mumble needs a HUD screen showing what voice is from what player, like in Teamspeak 2 (White for Idle, Green for talking and Red for Mute)

Its called the mumble overlay? Lip syncing seems pretty useless but would be cool

I really doubt it is possible to have lips sync in Refractor 2, but didn't saw any lips movement too, and I don't think this is needed feature.

You can use mumble overlay which shows all players talking, and from which squad this player is. Go to
this topic and see point G

Doesnt voip use lipsyncing? Pretty sure that it is possible. No expert but it would basically be a combination of the external exe and the code behind the voip lipsyncing that are connected .

Game needs an asset that can hack voice comms. Especially in insurgency.
Some poor fuck pretending to be a sig, listening to like 20 people's conversations at once.

Hahaha - Currently simulated by quiet-but-on-mumble clans using Teamspeak

Can you fix that problem where all the hotkeys disappear and can't be replaced?

Typically squads and commander will use the squads channel (* numkey) but this usually happens when we are > 50 tickets "dont give up.. dont give up" or when a squad needs something that will benefit them only (more squad kills).
Rarely I'll have 3-4 squads working together.. epic and orgasmic when PR is played this way.
Mikemonster wrote:It also allows me to know without asking the status of another squad, and their plans (i.e. if they are talking to Logi helis I know without asking that they are going to make a FOB).
Unless server admins encourage this it's less likely to get more active comms to happen. Unfortunately you just have to watch for people you know who play the way you do.
Have you installed
K_rivers overlay? it's arranges squad comms by color so you can discriminate between your squad and others who is talking. I would defiantly recommend using this.
Mikemonster wrote:saying offensive/racist stuff and being overheard, although they shouldn't be saying anything like that anyway.
The result of the lack of admins in mumble. I hear racist stuff EVERYTIME I am in mumble. No one cares. I have about 20 people now that I have perma muted. (yes I have your name written down for safe keeping morons)

I think he means incorporating it into mumble release. A squelch sound would sound much better instead of a beep like the commander hears in ingame VoIP or something more modern. That default beep sounds stupid imo

I'm sure its something to do with it being US and EU servers, i've heard racist language being used between loads on both servers, but 90% of the time its the latter server that actually does something about it.
maybe its the ethical beliefs in these countries that make one more lenient than the other?
