Yeah, we haven't even seen the changelog to see whats going to help the infantry if anything :(
I personally am loving that armour gets its "fear-factor" back onto the battlefield. I mean, the BMP-3 already has its scary as shit sounding rounds, but vehicles in .914 just seemed to easy to kill...

There's Thermal Imaging IRL....

Infantry don't get slaughtered IRL.

Thermal Imaging doesn't mean they can see through trees or walls or into buildings, so yes Infantry can hide and scream at CAS/Friendly Armour to take out that Tank/APC.

Atm Infantry's response to a tank is "Zomg Tank get a HAT kit." when the tank can see them easily it'll be "Zomg tank.. HIDE."

So everyone stop whining.

OMG Thermal Imaging for tanks! You have me quaking in my little army boots. /Sarcasm off.
What in PR is the greatest enemy of armoured units? Is it other tanks? Is it the dreaded HAT kit? Is it mines, C4 and IED's? NO! It is arrogance. Arrogance is what kills tanks in PR and all this change is going to do is swell their Epeen so big that they wont be able to get out of the .50 cupola without straining something. So what you can see through smoke? I can hear you at 1.5x the view distance and go places it cannot! Hell give the tank legs and a portable nuke launcher, see if I care.

I don't understand tho point of your post.... are you saying that Thermal isn't going to make tanks any more deadly/increase the fear factor?

No he's saying it doesn't matter how good the tech is, it all comes down to how you use it. And he thinks he can use his infantry better than the armour can use their tanks.

I think I get it now. And yeah,what can get armour killed in this game is just acting stupidly and not getting intel before entering an area. A lot of the time on an uncoordinated server/team armour tends to just fly into contact thinking they're invincible and they don't need infantry. People need to remember, infantry is the muscle of an army, but the armour is its fist, and without each other, well, its pretty much useless.
(I know infantry can do a lot of things with out armour, but if the enemy has it and you don't, well you're SOL.)

Yeah Zephyr that's kind of what I'm getting at. I'm not sure how to explain this but, the tankers may imagine that this change increases their potency by 100% when it only actually increases it by 25%. I wouldn't use smoke to break LOS on tank anyway, they just count to ten and HEAT the area. With this, maybe they can use their COAX rather than HEAT shells, but I don't see that as such a massive advantage as it appears to be on the surface,

i was fearsome in a tank gun before, i will be fearsom even more. people will try to stay in fog of war as much as possible now. but i wouldnt be surprised if there was a need to add the javlin or somthing strong like a SRAW to balance the vehicle win.

The rape will become unholy and hopefully this will make infantry used vehicles as cover and force them to move alongside them. the only thing left is to impliment squad leader tank lasing so that the pipper comes up directly on the gunner's periscope. please consider it.

In fact I'm not sure 0.95 can be released without these words being uttered somewhere....

One question though, how visable are land mines on thermal? More, less or the same?

Edit: One more question, does ambient heat alter the effectivness of thermal imaging? One would think there would be some difference between the muggy wet terrain of Silent Eagle to the baking sands of Kashan Desert.

They aren't emitting (?) heat, so they shouldn't show of that well tbh ;)
