Mumble has to be the single worst thing I have ever seen done to a mod, a simple VOIP program which has made the majority of the playerbase into elitist dicks, simply because they have 3d comms. How much does it contribute? Not a whole lot from what I have observed. And as to PR having a lot of teamwork, greatest joke ever told. Hell, even H clan took PRTA to within 9 tickets in a match and they are supposedly the teamwork gurus. If people wanted uberteamwork they would go play ARMA 2 or something, not PR. The BF2 game engine simply dosen't allow for the uberteamwork stuff, no matter how skilled the modders.
The only thing that has F'd this mod over is people like you not having the patience and capability to install mumble. The game has grown, and it's unfair for people like you to populate a server and hurt the gameplay of others because you can't communicate clearly.
It's even worse today, when the Dev's have put their blood, sweat, and tears to make mumble easier to install, if it wasn't even enough if you gave it a solid 5 minutes of concentration.
In regards to PR dying, I doubt it. If the BF2 mod ever goes down, I have confidence that someone from the team will put something on kickstarter and it will continue from there. The community may not be as refreshing and diverse as from times before, but PR is still going strong.
On the EU side you've got PRTA, NwA, and Merk (among a few others). The clan I'm in is actively seeding the ones that aren't full in order to get as many players online.
We're all good.

I'm going to come out and support sax on this at least with the NA community.
All last year tg would be full from like 12 noon till 1-3 in the morning all week round all year round. Now... I haven't seen any one on in like a month.

May I ask you something? I see a lot of players complaining about their ping being high on both German or British servers? Is this just BS since you can play with a 150 ping without any problems, I mean I can still play on CIA from my location at the other side of the ocean. And some even use this as their main reason to quit playing PR.

IMHO TG declined not only because of newer games and being a community but also because players became to lazy to seed. I threw my hat into the mix when it came to seeding the server as did at least a dozen others, but when the rest of the community would rather auto-deploy on a full server, basically without fail, what can you expect.
Chris tried every night to gather players for TG for a good couple of months before finally giving in to the will of the community, which was to go to CIA and Hardcore. The NA community only has itself to blame for the decline of our servers, I'm guessing shinier games that provide instant gratification with little substance are the way of the future. We only have ourselves to blame for the decline of the best team-work oriented server, and Dayz that POS shallow excuse for a DM game.

Shame to hear about this. I knew TG was plagued by low number of players constantly. It really pains me to see one of the best if not THE BEST servers fade away into the abyss of darkness...
SCREW YOU PR, atleast I got ED-E and This Machine.

I play on NEW NWA and PRTA with no problem ping wise
I agree with murphy however I've seen that a majority of the tg regulars havn't even been playing pr. TG used to be full of 50+ regulars that every one knew and then some random pubs if we could get every one on again......
To be honest I haven't had a good game of pr since the last time I played on TG which is making pr not fun.

Come on. . . NEW and PRTA . . and MERK . . not good enough?
I do think though that this thread has a raised a significant issue which is the conduct PR is played, I'll remember this next time I log on, and I think everyone else should too.

and when TG was moving between server boxes, there were alot of tech issues that drove players like me away

I actually preferred TG to CIA not too long ago, however as we have taken the fleeting #1 slot, the gameplay of our server has finally risen from the primordial ooze to become, I believe, on par with that of TG.
If you disagree, go on my server, squad lead and prove me wrong.

This thread occurs once or twice a year. For 5 years or so, the time I have been in the PR community.
And around the same time every year. Then a massive release comes up and along with it an erection in Player pop the size of America's National Debt a.k.a. FUCKING HUGE. Then of course the natural statistical subsidence of the graph, and the cycle continues.
I think the issue is of asking those who want quick action, to wait just a little more and pop another server.

Yeah, on par with that of TG when TG is empty.

I've stopped playing myself because my BF2 is suddenly plagued with bugs, and because I just haven't been having fun because of idiots when I play, and my attention span for idiots in PR is quite short now.

Actually I'd say he's right. There were some golden rounds on TG in it's prime, but since CIA enforces mumble and most of the SLs are reasonably experienced, and it's almost always populated, I'd say the teamwork and enjoyment is pretty much on par with what TG used to be.
But this thread isn't about servers, so that's all I'll say on the matter.

Absolutely not. CIA is nowhere near and never will be. I could go on TG and have a good time regardless, but on CIA I'm not given that luxury.
I have no grandeurs of what teamwork is but CIA is far from great. It's acceptable at best.
Monopoly of population means
nothing, H was evidence of that and so is CIA, as will the next server that takes its place.

We agreed not to talk about servers...

I don't see why not. Servers are the environment we play on and their quality results in a good or bad game experience.
