Has anyone found an easy way of administrating registered users? The Mumble Wiki throws a whole bunch of code at you and leaves you standing in the rain after that.
if you register at our forum you have the same login/pass in mumble, but not needed
Hm, do you have Mumble linked to your forums user database, or how did you manage that?

If you open murmur.ini there is a part of the file with this

Code: Select all

# Path to database. If blank, will search for
# murmur.sqlite in default locations.
database=

# If you wish to use something other than SQLite, you'll need to set the name
# of the database above, and also uncomment the below.
#
#dbDriver=QMYSQL
#dbUsername=
#dbPassword=
#dbHost=
#dbPort=
#dbPrefix=murmur_
#dbOpts=

I'm only guessing here but I think that should be it, linking the forum db and mumble together.

do not understand much ... I have rewritten the best:

go to Configure|Settings|Plugins and check "Link to Game and Transmit Position" then go to Configure|Settings|Audio Output check "Positional Audio". If you use a headset or headphones then check "Headphones".

set in audio output: "rolloff" to max, "bloom" to max, "mindistance" to 5m, "max distance" to max.

@c0ca: Can you get your Techie Guy fdhirschmann to post here and share his wisdom of Mumble + Forum Linking with everyone? That would be awesome, thank you.

Even without positional Audio, mumble is just awesome :p

Last time I had it on Muttrah on the TCC server thoughI was able to speak with everyone on the map while in the chopper. :|

I'm sure I ticked the positional audio and everything, so I'm a wee bit confused.

Does the new version require newer drivers to prevent compatibility issues with Wacom pen-tablets? I know the older one did.

Ok, I tried mumble... and I like it. :)

It has a beta feel... it looks like something that will produce an amazing experience in about a year - but you can feel one portion of the future of FPSs with this software.

I was amazed how easy it is to install and run with PR. Just follow fuzzhead's instructions, and find yourself a server where there are people using mumble (10th Germans server, for example... they're testing it - 10th-community.com port 64738

About the "Languages Filtering" you could have a feature that allows each user in the program to choose his language and mute other languages so that it mutes users that have chosen a different language on the program. Either that or have different versions of the program for each language.

It certainly seems like this program has great potential.

There's one problem with language filtering Onil, especialy yours ; If somebody selected dutch and joins an english server, even tho he can speak english he will be ignored. Same for the english/german/french/spanish guys, even if they can speak english or another language, they'll be ignored by default. Not only is this just wrong, but it's counter productive and a nuisance more than an improvement.
Sorry, plus, is it going to kill you to have a squad pass by, speaking russian or something? If they want/need to talk to you in english i'm sure people will if they can. :-)

You should select English if you can speak it as well... it is after all the international language. You only choose another language if you can't speak English. And you would be able to select which languages to mute/un-mute I mean in voip you can mute players so in this program it could automatically mute players that have their program configured for a certain language that is muted on your own program.

It's not the squad passing that worries me, it is when you're in a defensive perimeter with more then one squad really close that will be too much chatter and in different languages.

Mumble's friggin amazing, especially for something that's only just started being put to use in pr. I'm loving it so far, and if pr does get it's own exe, or goes full indie game, one of the first things that should be done is trying to get mumble incorporated so that everyone can use it :)

This has amazing potential and I can't wait for some servers that encourage tactics (servers like TG) to start using mumble. I know it's a long shot to expect everyone on the server to be using mumble, but if we could get 3/4 to 4/5ths that'd be awesome.

Did you download the latest version of the update? And did you set your settings the correct way? If you followed what Fuzzhead posted, you should be fine.

It should set you straight as it now works on 4km maps and the "hearing people on the other side of the map" deal is fixed. :)

add another step

5. Go to Plugin and tick 3D for positional effects battlefield 2

Have to say gave a whole new feel to the game.
