Not sure if you were 100% serious right there, but the M249 is based on the Belgian FN Minimi. :wink.

We were talking about the M249, but that is of course not the MG4 the german forces will use.

Yes original design the Minimi was designed and made in Belgium by FN, the US used Minimi's for a short period until they made some modifications and called it the M249 SAW which is manufactured in the US by FNHUSA

Still the same weapon when you get into the specifics and subtract some additions, but the Germans don't even use it, so this ain't the place.

To answer this..no..NATO countries do not use the same weapons,or have to use the same weapons,etc..US has M4's/M16's Germans have G36's,UK has L85A2's ,so that answers that..They all kick arse together though,we all know that!
