Re: Remove the kill counter?
If there are publicly viewable scores, then there will be people in it only for the scores. Doesn't matter where or when you can see them, if you build/record it, they will come. So we just keep things the way they are.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Red... go away.
As for the idea: There seriously is nothing more satisfying for me than killing someone in PR. If you take away my counter I wont be very happy anymore. Do you know how hard it is to get a kill in PR than it is in BF2.
Plus all uh ya' JIBE turkeys would make me so's pissed off, ah' would gots'ta shoot mah'self in de face. What it is, Mama!
(too much Jive talk for one day.)

Re: Remove the kill counter?
Sorry, dont have time to read previous 18 pages, maybe my opinion was already introduced by someone..
I think we should only show kill counter in the end of a round. Because actually it doesnt needed while round proceed, and also it brakes some reality principles. By example, you dont need to confirm your kill, you can just look at KC. I think it will be more interesting and dramatic if you cant be sure about enemy status after your shoot.
P.S. I think that Teamkills messages should be removed as well

Re: Remove the kill counter?
I'm actually amazed people want tto keep this in... I guess the PR population isn't as hardcore as I thought. If you want to know if a contact is dead, get your *** up there and check on it. I would do this, but the fact that I can just sit back and wait for my kill count go up is just that much easier. Removing it woulde make it so you might still not be sure whether that room you just 'naded has contacts in it or not.

Howabout - if you see him fall down and don't see a medic revive him, he's dead.... If you can't confirm your own kills (why you would want to is a diff. matter, unless it's a high priority target), or, as is more realistic (I'm guessing you're a sniper) have your spotter confirm it for yousniperrocks wrote:Nah..

Re: Remove the kill counter?
As far as people wondering about using the points to show if you managed to kill an enemy; unless you walk over his body, you will never know if he is dead. Knowing that some guy (two hills away) died is ridiculous, so I'll let the kill points be taken out during the duration of battle.
I'd suggest that we get a "Check if Dead" option in the "Q" commo rose. There is similar code from the BF2 medic, with spot and click already in function. It might be nice to be able to finish them off too.
On another angle, people fight a hard battle as an fighting infantry man. Sometimes my AR or marksman will play a large portion of the round separated from the rest of the squad with little to be offered in regards to teamwork points. An infantry man, who scores many teamwork points in a map, probably makes most of it building FBs and will not have made many kills at all.
I am going to vote for points at the end of round. Lets give these guys who are asked to man lonely positions something to show for themselves.

Re: Remove the kill counter?
Yes yes only show them at the end.
Removing it from the game will increase immersion, and probably remove a good number of players who play for the kills. But still, I think its good to see the scores at the end, since you will want to check out how good did you do.

That's an excellent idea actually!!! That would be helpfuldoop-de-doo wrote:As far as people wondering about using the points to show if you managed to kill an enemy; unless you walk over his body, you will never know if he is dead. Because it's not realistic for someone to see if he killed a guy before buy checking his kills from the scores listEcho331 wrote:why does it matter??

Re: Remove the kill counter?
I play for kills, or more accurately a high KDR. but just cause you play for kills doesn't mean you don't play as a team or work towards objectives.
Having a high KDR to me is incentive alone to stay with my squad cause you die less and have more security with a medic and 5 people spotting hostiles with you.
Bottom line, its a FPS, sure you can play Mr. Transport chopper or supply truck runner. But at the end of the game the majority are going YEAAA I kicked ***.

Nor is Mr Medic pulling several bullets out of your chest, rubbing you with a med pack then saying "you're good to go" and then the shot to pieces player been fit as a fiddle once more.

Re: Remove the kill counter?
That is purely for gameplay as it would be kinda bad if you'd get banned off the server as soon as you die. But seeing you score-list has nothing to do whit game-play but only give the ability for one to show-offRapid12 wrote:Nor is Mr Medic pulling several bullets out of your chest, rubbing you with a med pack then saying "you're good to go" and then the shot to pieces player been fit as a fiddle once more.

Re: Remove the kill counter?
Tbh if you play purely for kills then you are not playing as a team, thinking "Oh I'm great" because you got lots of kills is simply wrong. You want to know if you did well - can't you tell? Do you REALLY need some crappy little number to tell you how well you did?
