Cheers matey, it should be really fun. I should have a finished version of the city for 16/32/64 within a couple days.

Bigger version with airport and desert will be realeased at a later date.

Yeah this is looking great.

wrt CP names, don't worry too much about that, cuz they will get butcxhered in conversion to a PR map, then go back to looking pretty through the localisation.utxt files we include.

but removing the flagpoles from view and that annoying rope clanking sound is, imo, a much more "immersion friendly" way of making capture points. I really like what Terror did on his map to remove the flagpoles and flag sounds. Just feels a lot more immersive (tho players will be running around looking for the flagpole hehe).

Flagpoles are appropriate for things like Army Bases and major buildings and such, but rather "gamey" in the way they are used to represent control points.

This map may include an objective mode which involves destroying certain targets, so to make it more difficult ive hidden an ammo dump for the Us forces to seek and destroy. Just to let you in on it now so atleast some of you arent runnning around trying to find it when the map is released ;)

I just noticed you have a highway ramp on your map. Where is this static? I can't find it.

heh .. well you could do it the way the military does it, which is get a qualified guy (engineer) with the approproate equipment (remotely detonated explosives) and destroy it. Feel free to suicide it tho :p

Major light change, what do you think?

Post by duckhunt »

I was bored of bright sun and alot of maps have i. I thought this sky setting would be really cool, I just like the way it looks. Its not too dark like a night map, and its not like karkand fog. Early morning, and war fighting is 24hrs! Tell me what you think please. Also bear in mind that not all object lightmaps are done, but once they are the houses and things will blend into the look a bit more. :)

That is looking pretty sweet. Is it suppose to be dawn or dusk? If it is suppose to be dawn, then I would suggest it be a tad bit brighter so that it has a little bloom effect on the city of the dawn raid by the US.

Looks interesting. It looks very real, like 8:00 PM during the summer. I've never seen this sky used on an urban map. This is the Operation Cleansweep sky right? Oh, and make sure the sun is in the west if it's a sunset and east if it's a sunrise. And change the water to match the sky. Other than that, it looks amazing.
