Or pay $80 a year, so you don't have to wait. Totally worth it.

Y u no do this? The auto deploy tab is the greatest feature ever added, especially after new release when your chosen server of play becomes caked with players for hours.
I'm not sure how the auto deploy-function works, but in my experience it won't deploy you if you alt+tab out. After the new patch it's not been working either, so you'll have to deploy manually.

If you want to learn the ropes try the VG Co-op server. It has far less of the BS that fills the "Training" servers and isn't as hardcore or unforgiving as a normal server. I have seen many new people there and have helped them get a feel for the game. Also you'll get a chance to use more than just the Rilfemen kit from early on. And a final note VG has rules like a normal server that are enforced (so no C4ing your own main).

Sounds good. I'll be sure to check it out soon. I think I have the basics down, so maybe when I'm in the server you guys could teach me how to use some of the more skillful kits, like the Automatic Rifleman kit, or the Heavy AT kit.

Lots of these servers seem to be either completely full or empty when I'm looking to join a game. Any specific times I should be aware of that are good for joining, or do I just have bad luck?
I'm Eastern Time btw.
I have managed to get into some of the servers, but I havent had the full PR experience yet in any of them. Looking forward to it though!

We all have that issue. I'm EST as well, I live in Mass. I frequent Tactical Gamer and I always have amazing matches on there. I'm telling you this now. I Just started using Mumble a day before .96 was released and it is VERY helpful/useful.
All the guys on |TG| are fun and willing to help.
I will tell you this, dtacs is a hardass SL so don't join him if you are faint of heart

I'm a Masshole too haha.
I've been using mumble and it is very helpful. i cant imagine playing the game without it in fact.
Tactical Gamer actually just crashed haha, so I'm waiting for it to come back up. It seems to crash a lot, or at least encounter periods of insane lag. Is this the norm or is this a new development?

Ya everything seems to be working smoothly now. Good to know it's only expected to be temporary. It does seem like one of the best servers out there to play on, but again I wouldnt have the best understanding of that seeing as how I've only played on a few servers.

Keep cycling until you get in one. Don't use autodeploy, alternate clicking between the server you want to get on and an extremely low-ping server until a slot becomes available.
Another thing - SLs tagged |TG|, ]L[, |?|, ODS, and NWA are - generally - good. (I'm just going through a few solid main groups I see on TG, my favourite server, here; I'm not trying to blacklist anybody in case anybody's wondering). If you're new, these guys are usually good bets. Cheers!

Haha cool. Some heat we got huh?
Back to the thread topic, I'll definitely keep my eyes open for SLs with those tags. It seems like getting into a server is only part of the battle. If you get into a bad, or even just sub par squad, your in for a rough game. Seems like theres a lot of luck involved when determining if your going to have fun or not.
Is this really the case, or is there some secret I'm missing?

Well, I cannot disagree with you on that. Squads that are not organized very well will get boring and can be not fun, but I've had fun matched sometimes too. I will say that playing Insurgency as Insurgents and you join a crappy squad you can still have fun because you have more freedom to lone wolf a little. Now I'm not saying do this all the time, lone wolfing is BAD on AAS and it is generally discouraged.
Joining a good squad is 99% guaranteed fun. It is like any other game: some days it is fun no matter what and other days it will suck.

Yeah, I guess the trick is to find which days are the "fun no matter what" and avoid all the other days. So, generally when is it a better time to find good games, on the weekend or during the week? And when, during the evening or the middle of the day?
(Eastern time for me)
