I think the text are fine, making them bigger will ruin the immersion expensive of PR. I don't like reading text while playing PR. I prefer to use voice.
But I think the solution to this issue is to have the end user use CAPS LOCK or uppercase letters in team chat. Works out every well I7 L7 I1 L1 etc.... makes it easier.

I don't think hes gonna make the text bigger. He'll probably make the upper case I have the lines on the top and bottom. The current upper case I looks like this: 'l' Which could also be a lower case L

Anything works though, it's just a first letter reference.
The history of military phonetic alphabets reveals a quite varied list of words used. In WW2 things like Fox and Easy and Able were used. In WWI the brits tended to use words that were very... well British. Apple and Butter and Pudding. Also, if we choose to believe wikipedia, Alfa and Juliett are correct spellings by the NATO standard (this Alpha is also correct). Juliett has the double T probably because it forces the hard pronunciation since an 'et' in French for instance could be pronounced with a silent T.
Its all here.

I said clearer, not bigger... As an added bonus, I changed zero to be a slashed zero to lessen confusion with O.
Clear enough?

A small, but much appreciated change. I was having these problems a couple days ago. Great fix AncientMan.

Many players have the lower case L's in their name as I's, thats going to annoy quite a few people, but none the less its a good change

I however still looks like l in chat...
honestly... i'd rather just type out lima than have them go "is that an L or an i?" and have to retype it.
waste of time to not communicate properly when typing out Lima does just fine

No lower case dude. and the I needs serifs. but i like the chunky blue font, feels like your giving DICE a nice big F**k you by using the fonts they are currently using for BF3....
....i feel i may have crossed some sort of boundary.
(oops just notices upper case I has serifs, damn your good.)
