One last thing,(thx for the flame shield) Can I only use the radio properly when im squad leader? because it dosnt seem to work when im a sniper that isnt the squad leader.

I?m pretty positive that you can use it without being an SL.

You can't use the radio correctly unless you are the SL

It's funny to read all the old-timers here explaining time and time again that "The sniper kit is not for sitting on some hill shooting faraway guys for points".

Well, wake up and smell the coffee. That's exactly how most people people use it in the actual game.

They don't care about what you think they should do with the kit. They want a big gun for massive damage, not 'providing intelligence about troop movements'.

I never use the sniper kit myself, because I think it's a pretty boring role, and since I don't give a damn about my kill score. But a lot of people only play this game to get kill points so they can feel big and powerful and important.

So, maybe you say players are hardcoded, but if you take away their toy gun, you will also get rid of a LOT of unsociable people in this mod. They will go back to play whatever is the new big FPS these days.

And for the original poster: welcome

Snipers annoy me because they are 90% of the time useless, they are never at the next flag harrassing enemy so they can't set-up defences correctly, but nooooo thye sit on a hill sniping and hardly getting ANY kills, i'd rather they be on the ground killing and helpign with the assualt on the flag which costs the enemy team 30 tickets! probs more tickets than they'll take away from the enemy team in one round.

Sorry to say, but that IS what the sniper kit is for. And i'm getting a little ticked that new people don't READ and SEARCH, or hell, even ASK in game, or RTM before they post on the forum, wasting space. And if the sniper rifle is gone, then as you said, it will get boring, but shit happens. You basically NEED to be social in PR in order to succeed. For me, points ARE NOT what makes PR, PR. If or when I play PR, I only care about one thing, maybe two. The teamwork, and the experience, if both of those are there, then I have one hell of a time. If I want to care about "score" and my e-penis size and rank up and brag to people who could care less about me, I'll go play FH2. And there really isn't any "new" fps since all the fps' are the freaking same(cod much?) All games are now the same pretty much(God damn console gamers) Captain America? Plays EXACTLY like Batman... Anyways, please search around, or read the manual before you post...

Yep, that is what the manual says it's for, but when you give a new player a great big scoped rifle and LOTS of ammo, then what do you think that player will think the kit is for? Providing intel? Sorry, that's not how the human mind works.

If we want to improve the sniper kit, or at least get more capable players to use it, then we should either take away the rifle or at least diminish the amount of ammo to reflect the sniper bullets only being for high-profile targets.

After all, there's nothing that keeps the newbie player happily shooting down all kinds of players, why would they limit themselves? Not everybody roleplays a character and tries to do what a real soldier would do.

(Just to clarify, I'm playing the devil's attorney here, as I agree with the people playing this game in a more serious way - for me, that is more fun, but I can clearly just see that not everybody thinks like I do...)

Then they should not be playing PR if they do not intent to take it seriously.

We didn't mean to flame you, man. It is just that there are a lot of questions that can be answered on the manual (honestly, I don't know if the Sniper's radio is explained in the Manual. After all, I haven't read it for some time).

Most things you will learn in-game. Deviation is always complicated. When I first joined a match after ~2 years without playing, I asked how do you get limited kits as insurgent.

A few people answered RTFM. Some other people explained "there are a few at main and a few at the caches". Those are that simple.

I wish most people would just STFU and answer a question. Sorry I couldn't help you. I've never used the sniper's radio without being SL.

I agree, but that's not how the world works. This mod is available to the public, no age or IQ check required. No personality test either.

Fact is, many people play PR and take it seriously, but a lot of people think PR is a kind of "Battlefield Hardcore Mode". It's more difficult and harsh, and that's why they feel it's even more rewarding getting kills here rather than in vanilla. The sniper kit is the easiest way for them to get those kills. That's why they flock to it.

There are snipers and then there are Snipers. The best ones are the ones that only have to fire the gun 1 or 2 times in a round. The best weapon that the sniper kit has is the green GDLT/SoFlam. Not the gun. The GDLT/Soflam is silent and so SO deadly. It can kill many tanks in one go. No other weapon can do that in the game. So the best Snipers learn how to use that before they use the gun.

I think the best snipers are the ones who laze tanks, mark FOBs and shoot a lot. It's a game! And it is infinitely more annoying to be on a Sniper's barrel end than a bomb's or tank's. Because getting exploded by a tank has the epic sense to it. Getting shot by a sniper is just... cold...

Best snipers are the ones I don't notice. My side or the enemy side. It's a dickhead magnet.
