I go between either Squad Lead or Lead irregardless of name but I seem to only use the latter now since it flows better in a convo.

I think the games SWAT 3 & 4 had a hand in conditioning me to use these terms though.

I was once in a squad where everyone was calling me "Sir"...

And eventually I was like "Guys, I appreciate your respect for authority and desire to be realistic, but you can just call me by my name...I made it easy to pronounce for a reason. "
But one guy insisted on calling me "LT" for the rest of the round...

Which brings up a question; what rank are the Squad Leaders supposed to be in PR? They're leading squad-sized elements, but the SL icon is that of a Captain's bars... so confused...

I usually use Sister. Works everytime.

Unless you know him well, it should always be "Squad Leader". It's a general expression - a right one, there's no roleplaying here - and creates an instant empathy.

Squaddie. Pretty common in Australia.

You can call your SL "Dude", "Duuuuudee", "Boy!", "Yo"... the works.

Or Squad Leader.

I wanna say Cpl. - Sgt. because essentially your leading a overstrength fireteam. Idk why we ahve the captain symbol to represent the SL lol

We have a captain symbol to represent the officer. That can be an NCO leading a squad or the overall team commander. The symbol does not refer to any specific role, it merely is supposed to look like something that people recognize as "officer".

Squaddie, boss, or bossmang.

Call him a bloody retard for choosing a noob name, then you don't have to worry about being in his squad anymore!

I refer to Squad Leaders as SL's most of the time. Or leader, short and obvious.

Me too, i always call them Squad Leader, no matter the name.

Squad Lead works for me. Also it seems that other Canadians do the same. I guess there must be something in our water.

If I'm SL and have a difficult name under me, I normally re-name him to something easy, like Jim or Bob. That way I'll always know who is who.

If the SLs name is hard, I call him SL, Squadlead or Boss but never sir...

I usually got the problem the other way around, how to call my squadmembers?

I mean Squadleader is an easy way to circumvent the problem but it doesn't really work with that.
My name is more or less normal, three pronouncable (at least in German) syllables, but still people have difficulties.

Me and two friends once opened a ins squad called AAA and used the clantag for naming us Achmed Abdul and Ali.
After that I didn't change it and everyone suddenly was able to talk to me without problems, calling me Achmed.
I considered using a name like Jack or something similar, but I still like to show people who I'm playing with, so I use tags identical to those of my friends now.
