This includes much more graphically demanding games than PR, such as:

Bad Company 2
Modern Warfare 2
Medal of Honor
etc
Sorry for double post but how is any game in the COD series demanding? It's been running on the same "enhanced every release" engine since MW1. I see no difference between MW1, and BO(Soon to be MW3) It looks all the same.

Below 25-28 fps, it gets slower, below 20, im mad. What is above 60ish is not so visible. IF you keep your fps inbetween those (or higher), you are good, therefore, stop whining, and making lame excuses to show off your rig.

Its an old engine, DEVs are trying to optimize, but there is only so much you can do...

ujelly? It seems to me that you are or you wouldn't care.

I mentioned my specs because people automatically assume that I'm running on an older computer.

I think I'm just going to go play some Forgotten Hope 2 where my FPS can actually stay above 60.

Wow 35fps is a problem. Yet 35 fps is a great frame rate to play games. Movies are at around 30 fps..............

Try D3DOverrider. Comes with RivaTuner, but doesn't need RT to run. That's the only way I have managed to make vsync work on Windows 7 with an ATI GPU. Remember to force triple buffering too for more enjoyable experience. The settings in CCC don't seem to have an effect on anything.

Edit and offtopic: Even though movies have 24fps it doesn't mean it's smooth. They use longer shutter times to blur motion which makes motion look smoother and gives movies their feel (different from soap operas). In the US most live tv broadcasts are 60fps with interlacing (480i, 1080i) or nowadays even with progressive frames (720p60 for example), but even that's not enough to see everything as clearly as if you were watching it live. In Europe, tv broadcasts are 50fps (576i, 1080i) and movies 25fps (576p, 1080p).

If you have an old CRT monitor, you can see that up until 120Hz or something you will be able to tell the difference between white paper and the white screen. How would that be possible if you only see 24fps? There's also a big difference between 60fps and 120fps - even though 60fps is already highly playable - and that's why there are faster LCD's now to give more demanding gamers all those frames they need to put an instant-head-shot on their opponent while bunnyhopping .

One more thing that seems to effect motion is sample and hold technique used in LCDs. Unlike CRTs, LCD's hold the previous image between every refresh meaning they actually need more frames per second to be registered as smooth than a CRT or plasma does. On those there's a black "frame" between each image which I guess somehow fools the brain to see motion more easily.

Wait, let me see - I have an ATI 4800 HD and a 2.8 ghz. procesor and I have 60+ FPS on most situations.

You have a better rig than mine, and you struggle to have 35+ FPS????

Something is wrong with your PC.

Refractor 2 > Unreal 3 engine BUT...

Refractor 2 doesn't have multi-core compatibility.

EDIT: Also this belongs in the support forum.

Sorry to topic steal, but what about those TVs that run shows/movies so smooth, like butter smooth? I'd be glad to run PR above even 30 but unfortunatly, I can't :( , I saw one of those tvs at walmart, watching Yogi Bear, HOLY HELL was it smooth, I wanted to touch it XD

we'd be lucky if COD was running on UE 3
its actually running on an modified quake 4 engine (much cheaper to license)

you might want to try playing with the options in the properties of the PR shortcut, and defraging the game (if you havent defraged the HDD after a new PR install) each new patch really fragments the game, and defraging it has some performance increase (loading if nothing else)

I like having my fps around 90, then when I have too look long distances I wont lag that much. If my fps goes to around 40, the game starts to feel sluggish and fast aiming get harder. If you guys are satisfied with 25 fps I guess you guys just like the walking part of the game.

I consider 40-60 fps good because it's the best I get on my desktop PC. I'm lucky to get 20 fps on maps like Shaiah (sp) valley, burning sands, fallujah.

Wanna know what's funny? My mac gets about 60 FPS on all high with AA on.

Really, if you don't want to play the game, then don't. If you do want to play, have fun and enjoy yourself. Just don't make a thread with the angry > :( smiley face because you get 40-60 FPS when looking a certain direction on a map.

what I referred to is that you wont "miss" any objects that you would be able to hit with your reaction ability. That said it you might experience "blur" when something moves fast, but if you would refer to bfbc2 it seems like everything is made "blurry" on purpose so it must be a plus in there eyes :D

If you want to make sure that you "see" everything while flying a jet you might need 500 fps, but since most monitors only refresh with 60 or 120 frames per seconds it would be useless anyway.

id say start to worry when you go below 24 fps and don't bother to tweak it any more when your monitor cant keep up any more.

Funny how Infinity Ward claims to have made a "brand new" engine called IW 4.0 lol
