I've been playing PR for awhile, and I still haven't mastered jets. So I would highly recommend a) reading the manual as all the others have mentioned, and b) practice on training servers or in single-player. Preferably option (b) as you won't piss nearly as many people off. The helicopters are much easier to fly, but also less forgiving if you do something wrong (take off early, decrease power for too long, angle backwards, etc) while the jets you just need to maintain speed and you can generally stay in the air.

One question I'd tack onto this thread, for those with more experience, do you find flying with keyboard/mouse easier, or joystick?

Keyboard/mouse for helicopters, joystick for jets, but everyone has their own preferences regarding these things.

That's generally what I do, but I still can't pull off some of the amazing maneuvers I see with helicopters.

Perhaps that is just experience (or lack of, in my case) speaking.

Don't fly or drive a tank or anything. Just join a APC squad or w/e and be the gunner or sub gunner on the tank.

Play the game for a week in NORMAL Infantry. Then this...

Deployment>Create Local Server>*Pick Map* then start.

Just practice first.

I guarente you will be banned from every server in PR if you join your first game and grab the pilot kit.

Joystick for both helicopters and jets. This is because that's what I started with. As far as I know, there are a lot more people flying helicopters with mouse and keyboard.

Same way you get the .50 Spiper Kit, use the ALT+F4 cheat.

considering the amount of knowledge you currently have i would suggest avoiding aircraft and operation of vehicles. requesting a kit is a basic skill in this game which should have been picked on in your first round whether or not you read the manual.

infact i have doubts you've even played any infantry at all. if you've played infantry many of the functions basic to even vBF2 are in the T menu. having used that at all it should be obvious how to request a kit.

Out of all the info given here. OP you should be able to figure out how to get a crewman or pilot kit. If you cannot do that I suggest you start playing with legos instead of computers.
