I use the nato phonetic alphabet since I play project reality, and I agree that more people should do it. Especially when being commander (and being on mumble on some servers with sqleader chat) it is mandatory that people say alpha and bravo instead of A and B.

just no, capitalising the first letter of each word makes it incredibly difficult to read.

also that list was of the phonetic pronunciation of numbers as to read them as they are over comms often leads to them being miss heard, recently i was having to team comms to a bunch of cadets and we covered the full phonetic alphabet and why it is used.

you also used "over and out."

"over" means you have ended your transmission and are awaiting a response

"out" means you have ended your transmission and there is to be no response, can you see how saying that you want a response but there is to be none given can be confusing??

Over and out is mostly some hollywood talk, as no army personnel I know use it that way. Its just stupid, over, OR out is more than enough and keeps comms a bit more clear.

"Over and out" makes no sense. "Over" means you're awaiting a reply/answer from the guy you're talking with, while "Out" means that you're ending the conversation, so you don't want an answer.

How do they get people to repeat information IRL then? Its surely a common request due to misunderstandings or bad coms

I say that in every day speech, so I'm sorted

i dont know anything about real life radio communication but ive got the feeling that you say "say again" when you want your partner to repeat something and "repeat" before YOU are repeating something. am i wrong?
