We've all been in a squad where the SL thinks he can bully people around and act like he owns the game. Whenever i join a squad like that I leave.
I had a round a while back where I joined a squad where the SL acted just like the OP described (wouldn't be surprised if it was the same one)...
He kicked everyone who didn't live up to what he expected but ironically it was the SL who did the bad job since he suffered badly from tunnel vision. He only saw what he saw and totally ignored any intel coming in from other squadmembers... He just charged blindly into a city expecting squadmembers to follow him even though the guys behind reported that they were being engaged by enemies. When they were killed he blamed them for not following him close enough (many SL's forget that some squadmembers may not have the same amount of sprint as them) and then he kicked them. In the end we were 4 left in the squad and he was still blaming others for not doing the job good enough.
In the end everyone left, which I couldn't help being a bit amused by...

Just leave the squad it's the best punishment you can give them. It sends a clear message IMO.

One of the things i dislike sometimes about Squadmembers is that they often cant see the bigger picture, and when im running around through a combat area, and we take fire not serious fire just fire that keeps missing, SMs have a tendencay to stop and shoot, and then get shot. I hate it when i am actually trying to flank and eliminate, that SMs that was supposed to work with me to eliminate the enemies, are down cause they have no sence of staying alive or sticking with the SL.

Often have i seen myself running through what in peoples eyes are suicide and then tell everyone to follow, and then they just overthink their approach and stop and aim. Which just gets them killed.

I dont kick for it, but the best way to kill the enemy, is when he isnt watching you. Not shooting at someone who is already shooting at you.

Also, i usually kick people who dont reply to voice messages in my squad, aswell as people who take sniper kits, its nothing personal. But those two things i have 0 tolerance for.

I would like to point out however, that my idea of the best leadership often comes when you are bringing fun to your squadmembers. And not making them give you fun. Its abit like giving and reciving, its easier for you the SL who is in command and calls the orders to give fun, and because you are all powerfull you get alot in return.

Therefor yelling is mostly used as an incentive to make people laugh at me, they get what im saying, and im not being too serious, im just yelling with silly words. Such as :

"Get your green goblined arse down here you lazy bum!"

"Move your *** you fat *******!"

"Guys, do you have to stay so close to me? You all smell like shit and id like to have some privacy" (If you want them to spread out)

There are many tools, and ways to give orders. It doesnt have to be so direct, unless they dont understand english very well. But even then, learning some german orders or words, spanish and french even polish and russian. Will make them smile even more. Ill give you an example.

"SHASKA Russian man lets go!"

"arriba!"

"Raus! Snella!"

All in all its a game, were here to have fun. And i have alot of fun playing with people who enjoys a good time, with me

Its idiots like that who imagine they are tough guy drill instructors who get a power trip and actually possess very little in the way of actual life or game skills. They should go play a game that allows that kind of childish behavior and jerk out their frustration before their wives get home.

Exactly my thoughts.

In some servers admins punish SLs that are uncooperative, so how is it acceptable that we allow the other extreme by simply turning our backs to it?

We're all grown ups, no Dr. House treatment equals fun or even remotely resembles to teaching.

Sometimes i too take the game rather serious and I admit incompetent, careless or whatever ppl piss me off.But I'm hardly some uber player and in the end its just a game....

Telling people they are bad at the game isn't insulting, its observational. If players are bad and need to improve, telling them is a great solution. Bad players waste others' time and I don't tolerate them. SL's are there to create a fun experience for others, if some members are getting in the way of that they don't deserve to play the game.

There's a difference between being abusive, and telling someone that they're not doing very well.

You do as SL says unless commander says something else. Even if it means death.

If you dont like SL then leave the squad, its that simple.

I think squad leaders yell to peopel IRL too, and after all its project reality.

I think like a lot of people have said there is a world of difference between telling someone they need to do better and telling them they are shit and kicking them.

I think my style can often be fairly strict but in my view kicking someone for making a mistake is counter productive; mistakes are there to be learned from, tell them what they did wrong don't rage and go straight for the kick button.

I personally like Wicca's style of leading, it puts everyone at ease and he's a lot of fun. However, the danger there is that, for all your tomfoolery, people won't take you seriously enough to obey orders. As long as people realize you do have an objective in mind, and that you can actually play, it works out great.

I think some people who play the mod are vets and flashbacking or something. I like PR and try to play it the PR way, but yet it happened to me too that an SL decided I wasnt up to his standards. It happened just once, if you arent a ****** player, it shouldnt happen to you again soon.

You just shot yourself in the mouth there. Not all SLs properly assess the situation at hand. Nevermind that as Web_Cole said that is counter-productive and proper of a COD ambiance.

My SLing mood changes, depending on the gameplay. If my squad is doing well and is intuitive, i take more time to interact with them, we work better together, im a very friendly. Kinda like their rating goes up, and even if they do mistakes , it doesnt iritate me, since i know that they happen. If squad is preforming averagely, i will lead averagely. If certain squadmembers are not following orders or not doing what they should, i tell them how it should be done in my eyes, and how they could survive. If i see improvement, see above. If it goes down, i tell them again, to try atleast just to listen to my orders. If that fails, i have no tolerance for any obvious mistakes from anybody in that squad. Person gets kicked instantly, if somebody else acts retarded after all the explanation, i dont bother, they are out.

Whole team contributes to my modd aswell. If team does good, i am happier to improve my squad performance, if team is meh, i am neutral, if team is derp, alt+f4 is inbound.
