It was a question, not an accusation. I've never done OG before so I was curious... and because we've been having a lot of issues with OG lagging maps, I'd like new OG to be as optimized as possible. :)

1600 tris (or even 800) is rather high for an overgrowth object (it's going to be multiplied over and over unlike vehicles or weapons and much more than buildings) if you want to place a lot of them. However if the environment is like safari where there aren't such huge amounts of those trees it might not be a problem especially with proper lods.

You could easily lose a lot of tris by reducing the amount of sides the trunk has from 10? to 6-8. That's still pretty nice for a quick doodle

Yeah my map will have plains, a desert part and some more forest part. But the forests won't be big, so there won't be alot of trees around.

All my searches have come up short in finding suitable texture of the branch so far :(

Take your time, my map won't be finished for quite some time :p .

I think that you could go for a light brown texture with some normal wood textures on it, dunno :-?

This kind :

The bark texture is easy to make, it is just the branches that I have not found many useable pictures of and ofcourse I cannot source my own. :\

If you can find any I will make the texture and the model(s).

I don't have any knowledge in 3D modelling, I don't know wich size you need, where to find textures, etc :|

I think a simple light brown texture might do.

This kind of color would be good even if it would look to bright, if a bit darker it could be good :

Seriously I don't know.

Anyway I don't need the tree for now, you can model different shapes for having variety but I don't know for the branches. I think you could use some light brown with some stripes on it, not a big deal for branches as Acacia branches are quite small.
