edit: PLA vs RUS doesnt seem plausible for me :/
If you remember your history the PRC and USSR had such bad relations at times that they once came to blows. To this day China has more issue with Russia (and vice versa) that could lead to war than most NATO nations do. People forget that two people you have issues with might also dislike each other as well (so the enemy of my enemy is my other enemy).

mmm no? ;)

some nice scaled textures dont cost anything, they are free, and you can use 6 of them in every color you want on the map. also on the road in this picture, you still use different colors/textures under it. as i say, for free and it makes a 10 times better look. it only costs work.

for an example look at the picture of my map. under and a bit beside the road.

Not 100% true.

First of all detail textures do cost a bit, first of all there are 6 of them due to there being a max of two detail texture sheets per terrain patch, each sheets RGB colour channel controlling a unique detail texture. Now having only painted 1 to 3 or 4 to 6 on any one patch means when the editor complies the textures for that terrain patch, if only 1 to 3 or 4 to 6 detail textures have been used on it, then it only needs to make one texture for that patch, rather than two if textures from both sets have been used. Although it dose cost pretty much nothing since its only 128kb/s per complied detail sheet patch, but it also dose add another draw call to the terrain patch so it doesn't cost nothing, but a small amount yes. Also one of the bigger factors that might affect FPS more with detail textures is a high rez detail texture and/or a high tiled detail texture, this can significantly affect performance if gone over the top but if you keep all your detail textures on the same rez and tiling around abouts, there wont be much fps difference between them.

As for road textures, they again don't cost nothing, first of all you have a texture to load for them which can be pretty large, but most are not that large and also, a road is quite a few polys and another draw call per road so again, doesn't cost nothing but again it dose cost something.

But I do agree with your main point that that area on the map could use a little more terrain detail and it would be worth adding.

I like to think it's somewhere in Central Asia. Russia has big links with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan all of which border China, and do have some oil and natural gas reserves.

Definitely a cool theatre to open up if thats the case.

I'm looking forward to playing this map. I remember seeing it as a training map on the BigD servers. Great Job Vapoman

yes, both the chinese and russian HAT are not guided, it is fair.

But isn't the chinese one a "straight-flying" project? It doesn't have drop?

No, it's not. The Chinese PF-98 is pretty much an AT sniper rifle, it's super accurate up to 1000m with no drop, while the PG-7VR is an inaccurate turd and you're better off saving your ammo if you're more than 100m away, not to mention it packs alot less punch than the PF-98.

Not the game's fault you dont know how to use the weapon.

Of course the chinese weapon does have a better range, but inside 600m theyre equal if you know what youre doing.

I never claimed they were equal, I was merely stating that theyre close enough so that it is not completely unfair

Rofl please. Judging by some of your posts you don't seem to have a decent knowledge of this game at all, so I'm not gonna waste my time with you anymore.

Have a good day.

OH SNAP

but the tandem (if you got the scoped version) is pretty good if someone gives you the range to the target and you remember that its zeroed in at the 400m mark
of course the chinese one is much better you can fire it at any range as long as the target doesnt move

but you do get 2 shots with the tandem

My reasoning to the tandem being an inaccurate turd is I've tested it on a local server on the following way:
-set a Leopard at 200m distance;
-zero in on the target using practice shots;
-fire plenty of times in the exact same spot on the sight waiting 20 seconds every shot, to ensure there is no possible deviation;

When I did this I got a hit once, then on the following shot firing exactly the same way the rocket overshot the tank, then on the next it hit 5m to the right, then it hit the tank again, then it fell 10m short, and so on - it's very inconsistent shooting at distant targets.

Tested again and got same results. I don't even bother wasting rockets at something more than 150m away now (unless there's plenty of ammo around).

Anyways, offtopic, looking forward to playing this map again.
