dude haha "realistic" cache defence is not a very common tactic in real world ... once discovered they will not stay there defending something they know will be hammered by jets, artillery and heavy vehicles... is one of those things where game play comes first. the game mode is defence so most of us play defence.
take lashkar valley for example, most caches are in the open once blufor set up mortars you are done for. You need to stay close to the revealed cache , the fox hole is the only defence against mortars .

I agree that it isn't very realistic that insurgents will place a lot of men on one static position that is already engaged and dig in.
It's even more unrealistic that insurgents would leave there caches in an open place so I wonder why these cache locations are made in the first place. they would place them under there sofa or something

not visible in a field where Air recon can spot it.
even insurgents would dig down there weapons underground, place them in different buildings or disguise it as something common.
Years ago I thought it was exiting to go on unknown cache hunt as blu-for but today it feels more like I'm cheating when i find one and take it out, so id like to see the mod that's already made where 1 cache is in play at a time instead of 2 (forgot the name of it) as the standard.
If caches where in buildings and 32 insurgents where defending it it would mean that 1 tank couldn't take it out (unless if the building is destroy-able), and a coordinated attack would be necessary from the blu-for.
it would also remove the "why did you spawn on unknown you *****" behavior, that happens at-least a few times every round.

Its actually very common for insurgents to dig in, in Afghanistan ISAF forces have often had difficulty forcing out dug in Taliban positions, I think Insurgents could do with Foxholes maybe with slightly longer digging times and tighter limits so they arent spammed.

Lol. I can see insurgents blockade cache entry points with foxholes but I would love to see this.

Even if they weren't the same as the standard ones, but piles of rubbish that added some level of protection. Would add a bit more to being a ins SL

Yeah id really like to see more insurgent teamwork for sure.

An insurgent foxhole or roadblock could really add some extra things to insurgency. You can force BLUFOR better into ambushes and the "bad" caches could become better defense able with this.

Yeah here is pictures of kids making a barricade in Iraq:
And another hasty barricade:
Better prepared barricades during unrest in Turkey:

No reason not to have it.
INS is already out gunned; either give more option for defense or make cache move away after a ertain amount of time.

'Xander[nl wrote:;1718742']There's a ton of caches that are very hard for the INS to defend. Think desert caches on Basrah or Karbala. The INS can hold out for a while but once the armor support pulls up, the party is over and BLUFOR will get the cache within five minutes.
Foxholes could really improve the defence for these caches.
Maybe even a 'reinforced hideout' of some kind that can withstand mortars and vehicle fire. With a limit of 1 and having a much larger spawn radius than the normal hideout (like 100m instead of 5m) this.. bunker, could be used to much greater effect on bare landscape which is normally very prone to armor.
In fact, the barricades suggestion also sounds really good.
IMO the Insurgent build system could use a nice overhaul.
So there are caches that are hard to take out and there are caches that are hard to defend. I dont see a problem with that. The insurgents need to adapt, such as making more use of bombcars on maps where they know armor is going to be trouble.

played Iron Ridge INS , 2 caches on the forest , mortar fire starts you run away from the cache or stay on the cache holding your **** to be hit by mortar fire...
If you know the enemy is coming to your position any human being will try to build defenses dig holes or what ever ... it's just basic human behavior ... this or run away.

Yes please!!!!! man made makeshift foxholes could really help a lot with certain caches on many INS maps i can only hope like the word "maybe".

I have a hunch we're going to see more deployables for the insurgents in 1.3...

I was right
And you can place 10 of em! We'll be able to make fortresses! They'll be fortresses made from heaps of garbage but still.

The first thing I thought when I saw the new barricades was, we can finally defend wide open caches. No longer will insurgents be stuck in that one house in the middle of a desert just waiting to get wrecked.

BluFor just kill it with tank and/or Tow.
I think the new junk pile deployable is more for use as roadblocks inside a city.

Didn't they say in the 1.3 preview video that only C4 can destroy it?

Tank was also mentioned.
I assume TOW would be able to kill it as well as HAT.
