Just did a quick prototypey thing using the russian/mec/militia truck, and put the ZPU on top of it.

I had to use a screenshot from the veiwport, because my render is doing something weird:

I would have a go at making a ZPU1/ZPU2 if anyone has any decent refs.

Try setting your material's ambient/diffuse colour to black, that should darken the texture in the lighting to it's correct values.

Now, would the ZPU be added in max, or would it be added in the editor?

You have invented nothing noobs. :P

I exported a M35 with ZPU-4 ages ago for the AU/ARF. It just needs coding. Concept and images are in this thread:

Thats true.
But let see 2 parralels.
BTR-60 and Toyta Hilux.
Engine power
2x90HP-------144-151HP
Weight
9,9tonnes-------1,8 tonnes
They can moving slower, but they can move anyway.
Plus - weight of ZPU-4 means weight with wheeled mount. They don't looks lighter, right?

Needs graffiti

Zonda's looks like the MEC could use it on their transport lorry. and don't say the MEC cant use it cuz they use anything that's vaguely of Arab rural ingenuity. :D

This would allow them to actually defend a location, instead of getting blown to bits by constant chopper runs.

If you guys are considering weight being a limiting factor, make sure you understand which ZPU cannon you are talking about. There are different calibers for the ZPU's. I believe the ZPU which is in game would be called a ZPU-14.5-4, denoting a ZPU with 4 14.5mm barrels. That ZPU is called the ZPU-4. There are also two other emplacements in question when you're talking about - the ZPU-23-2 and the ZSU-23-4. Those both fire the 23mm round, but are fixed in either 2 or 4 barrel configurations. However, the ZSU-23-4 is a cannon mounted within the Shilka, which is self-propelled.

ZPU-4: 14.5mm cannon with 4 barrels "stationary"
ZPU-23-2: 23mm cannon with 2 barrels "stationary"
ZSU-23-4: 23mm cannon with 4 barrels, which is self-propelled

Just pointing out that they are NOT the same caliber and definitely do not weight the same, so please don't confuse the ZPU-23-2 as a 14.5mm cannon. I think the DEVs know, but when people are arguing about this stuff, I can't tell what their reasoning is based off of.
