It auto detects your resolution and aspect ratio. If you want a bigger FOV you manually set your aspect ratio. My screen has a 16:9 AR usually, so I set mine to 16:7 and found it to be a nice balance between fisheye and peripheral vision. The nice thing is that you can toggle it on/off whenever you want, and it auto disables when you zoom in. This means you're never at any disadvantage, and in some cases (like heli/aircraft pilot) the extra FOV can be really helpful :)

There was one version that didn't get you kicked, other versions were disliked by PB, except for.... v1.5 or something? Can't remember.

IIRC, last time I used this, the screen would get all messed up when looking down sights with zoom. Cant remember what happened specifically.

I was told there are some serious issues with this program, I recommend not to use it.

Wasn't it the ";" that switched the FOV? I found that quite annoying, responded to a ":" as well :p .

CMON guys, do NOT edit the FOV, that gives unfair advantages to players in PR (as they can see enemies to the border of their screen)... -.-

Looks awsome, going to use it for now :D

Tip: Don't put it too high otherwise no guns will appear and the game will go CTD.
give this man some [R-CON] tags.

Theres one last thing that needs to be tested.

As many PR vets know when you look at the side of your screen you can expose hidden terrain attributes that are otherwise obscured by fog. with FOV is this amplified?

good job mate. :15_cheers

I never heard of that before now. He was toggling it with a keyboard shortcut. can you do this with non widescreen?

tool is working for me, but somehow it is useless wile infantry fights - i've just noticed right now. you may see much more around you, but people in the distance are almost invisible for you.

maybe just good for cas operations.

check the corners.

in my opinion, it would be nice if you could work out an md5-check which gives a limit to this.
(and ofc to lowgrafics and to the soundmod. but thats offtopic here.)

It works perfectly. You have to set your aspect ratio in the program. It gives you a FOV of 90. Which is what counterstrike, BF3 and other FPS games use.

90 is the desired FOV for 1920x1200 monitor. BF2 as standard is slightly too low.

With the correct FOV you do not get a fish bowl effect. People that are getting that are setting it too high.

The tool works perfectly for me and increases the FOV just enough so that it looks more natural for my monitor. The standard BF2 FOV is too small and makes it look like you are "zoomed in" a touch too much.

It does not effect the aim down sights view either. It auto switches it self to correct FOV and back again when you zoom out. IF BF2 was a new game today it would have option to set to 90 FOV anyway. IT is just because it is old and made when non WS were the norm that it had a locked LOW FOV.

So there is no reason for people to complain about it. Even if people do set the FOV ridiculously high (higher than 90) then they are at a disadvantage because everything looks VERY VERY far away and hard to see. It also looks horrible like a fish bowl when you set it too high.

Set to normal FOV for your monitor looks much better than the low FOV of the standard game. Standard BF2 FOV is like playing while looking through binoculars.
BloodyDeed;1741231']The functionality of the widescreen fixer has afaik been implemented into BF 1.5.
Not sure on this though, since I hadn't had a widescreen back then.
1.5 only made it possible to choose widescreen resolutions. It was possible to play with these resolutions by editing shortcut's target in the earlier versions. This also cuts parts of the screen from up and down meaning you see lot less and the "zooming" effect happens.
CMON guys, do NOT edit the FOV, that gives unfair advantages to players in PR (as they can see enemies to the border of their screen)... -.-
Incorrect, this balances the game for widescreen users. Using widescreen in BF2 causes pieces of the view be cut form up and down of the screen causing widescreen players to see less than those with 4:3.

Works for me.

This is not true at all.

Would you like TV being broadcast in 4:3 when you have a 16:9 wide screen TV ? No you wouldn't. This fix just makes the image natural to the screen size. Its like having a 16:9 TV and a 16:9 image. That is how it SHOULD be.

The only reason it is not liek that as standard is because the game is so old they did not account for WS monitors correct FOV. This is just a fix. This is how it should actually be.

It has nothing to do with gaining any advantage or anything like that. IF that was the case then you can say anyone with a WS monitor has an unfair advantage in CS compared with people that have a square one. Or saying people with faster PCs have an "unfair advantage" against those that do not.

I think this would actually be very GOOD for infantry; especially in Vietnam.

If you own a wide screen monitor you expect surely to be able to see more of the horizontal scene than a square monitor would wouldn't you ?

Your monitor is physically wider than a 4:3, so why on earth should be image be the same FOV on both ? It makes no sense.

With out the fix the FOV is the same on WS and square. Which makes no sense at all. It is not conforming to the physical properties of WS monitors. That is why we have to use this fix. As i said pretty much all new PC games give higher FOV when using a WS res than when using a 4:3 res. That is just natural...
