I actually prefer this one as opposed to newest menu music.

The music you are talking about is essentially metal/rock, the music in PR does have heavy sounding guitars and hard hitting drum lines (and the sprinkle of crunchy bass here and there) but it's thrown into a more cerebral arrangement of orchestral instruments. It comes off as a more relaxed, less tension filled song, mostly because a lot of the instruments used are considered soothing, and classical. I personally prefer the new batch of song much more then the old ones, not sure if it's the same writer/composer but it shows that there is a lot more thought put into the songs.
I can agree that most aren't adrenaline inducing, but then again the pacing of PR does match the pacing of most of the songs. Long drawn out periods of general calm and collectivity followed by sharp hikes in intensity.
My fav one is the Beirut loading song, that has such a great vibe to it kind of like Hell March minus the marching loop. Yamalia loading song has a great feel to it as well.
BTW who would I talk to if I wanted to contribute some music to the game?

I absolutely love the loading tracks in PR, that is the primary reason I am posting. But as others have said, they seem tailored to set an atmospheric tone for the setting. Additionally, not all of PR is fighting. Indeed, a great deal of the fun I have in PR is born of suspense; the gripping tension of spotting a group of hostiles undetected, and plotting their fates. So it seems only fitting that the tracks should fit the location of the fight, not the fight itself.
My favorite has to be the Barracuda theme, my god it hits all the right spots.

I'm guessing Alkali would be the one to contact, he's done the majority of the soundtrack so far (with a large amount of tunes done by PirateX in the past).
