Re: 1P Animations on PCOs
I have a question about 1P model and 3P model of weapon in game: Is it possible to make only one model for both 1P and 3P. Or, to be more correct, make 1P and 3P united? I hate to see weapon smaller when I crouching on the ground or standing near the wall.

Re: 1P Animations on PCOs
Yes it is, but not a good idea, because generally 1p weapons/textures should be high detail since they are right in the players face, and doing that on 3p weapons means your having to draw a lot more detail than you can actually see unless you run right up next to the other players weapon, which isn't common.Alek-say wrote:I have a question about 1P model and 3P model of weapon in game: Is it possible to make only one model for both 1P and 3P. ??? Your weapon is the same size when crouched or standing next to a wall...Alek-say wrote:I hate to see weapon smaller when I crouching on the ground or standing near the wall.

If you look at the size of wall texture and come closer. Texture will grow and your weapon seems to be small against this texture. Also, when you are in the bush, leaf should come through your weapon, but they don't. I mean, that in "reality" leafs will hide your weapon in the bush or just annoy you at aiming.[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:Yes it is, but not a good idea, because generally 1p weapons/textures should be high detail since they are right in the players face, and doing that on 3p weapons means your having to draw a lot more detail than you can actually see unless you run right up next to the other players weapon, which isn't common.

Re: 1P Animations on PCOs
Its due to the way BF2 renders the model your "using", being a weapon or a vehicle in front of anything around it to help prevent errors in the way it draws.
Here is an example, where technically this IGLA is part of the same "vehicle" I made, because I forgot to add the line of code "ObjectTemplate.neverDrawAs1p 1", it draws it in front of any other object when your in the same vehicle:

When the above line of code is added then it draws as you would expect it to.
Never tried adding this to a handheld weapon and no idea if it would work or not but I think adding it may add compilations, your weapon at least would "clip" into the wall when standing next to it at the very least.

The gun already goes though the wall, you just don't see it in first person (although you can see another players gun go though a wall if he puts it though), but if that code is added, and if it works on a handheld weapon, then you would see your gun go though the wall when you walked up close to it...

That's what I want. I know that in 3P it goes through the wall. But, in my opinion, it would be good to see such thing in 1P mode. Isn't it?
Edit:
Also, what about to make player's body seen? I mean, as like in BF3. To see your legs etc.

Better to clip through wall in 1p than what is now, i believe.
Full collision with the moddel would be good, so it retracts or something, like in RO2 or BiA... but this is BF2, no such thing.

Re: 1P Animations on PCOs
yeah I wouldn't mind seeing my gun clip through a wall in 1p
if this feature gets added and that's the only byproduct
then by all means go for it
in many ways I would prefer it

The biggest problem is most likely with your scope clipping into the wall, as scope models (when you right click to zoom in) are massive in order for them to work right. If you where standing next to a wall, 1/3 of the scope would most likely be in the wall...

So, is it possible to makw some barrier of the gun? Or collision for it? Or, just, like in Red Orchestra 2, take it closer to body while you are standing in front of the wall?

no and even if it was, the "scoped in model" is like 5 times the size of the gun.Alek-say wrote:So, is it possible to makw some barrier of the gun? Or collision for it? Or, just, like in Red Orchestra 2, take it closer to body while you are standing in front of the wall?

All in all, it would be extremely weird.
Too bad then.

Miscommunication.
Alex thought that you were claiming that there was nothing new about the ammo belt video (as in nothing special). When in fact you were asking for updates.
