Meh pessimist

1.0 will bring quite a few things to the table, both in terms of gameplay tweaks, weapon handling (quite a few changes that you won't see coming) and of course in models, maps, animations, sounds and so forth. Some of this which will be revealed in coming dev videos

We win nothing by giving false hopes, we enjoy to play the game too (when we have time) and ultimately we just want to create the best game possible (which is why we never give release dates)

Not pessimist, but DEVs never hyped so much, so i got what i expected. There must be a reason to hype then, i believe you.

Previous releases were hyped much more. The hype around 0.7-0.8ish was immense. The Devs haven't hyped all that much recently...

played pr for about 5 years iirc. took a little break, 4-5 months, jumped on the other nite for awhile was just as fun as i remember.
As for what other game can take pr's place? none. There is nothing like it. You guys have truly gave myself and a few of my close friends a lot of fond memories that we wont ever forget. I really cant say that about any other game. We still discuss different battles or shit we did and laugh like the day it happened. Good job fellas and thanks.

You make it sound like something that is easy and should be on every patch. Do you even know what it means?

Some people don't seem to appreciate we got to test 300+ players on a 7 year old game which last I checked is unheard of in an FPS with such an archaic engine.

Dunno why people are getting hyped about 1.0, I'm tired of the devs being like this. I just can't wait until it's all over and we can start actually playing the update we've been waiting so long for.
Want a quick fix to get everyone looking forward to it? Release the changelog, upload an unedited testing round to show the mod's not been ruined. Easy peasy.

For me, its the best game out there.
Theres always a populated server out there (you may not get on it immediately..)
It balances arcade and complexity/reality well.
Game lengths (30m-2hrs)are good and allow for strategy.
Maps offer variety of terrain and size (we should play a greater variety though imho).
There are many ways to play many maps in many roles.
The communication (mumble) that can and should be used in the game is brilliant. I think its what makes the game. If you get in a fun squad (or if you prefer a serious one) you can talk kaka, hang out or drive around causing havoc and generally have a real laugh (or discuss tactics).
You often have to rely on others to help you achieve your objective which encourages teamwork and communication. It also encourages community.
64 or sometimes more than 128 players all doing their thing. I love it!
The game does not only reward you for twitch reactions. I often have 10 deaths to 1 kill and feature on the scoreboard

I'm a bit rubbish and with a bad ping but I still love playing despite that. If there wasn't the communication element in the game I dont think I would have enjoyed it for so many years.
There are some players out there who are actually quite mature too...
I don't know of any game that has all these elements?
I think its a winning formula. I'd like the same format with bigger maps and more people. That is the future gaming for me. Large terrains with 1000s of people. It cant be far off...New PR!
K4on;1832004']Ray, weren't you the guy with the whispervoice?
Erhm, not really no

At least I'm quite sure I don't have a whisper voice. But my mic is a piece of **** so it might have come through low
Welcome back.
The only guy I can remember from 0.5 is SocketMan, lol.
Out of interest, what servers did you play on before?
Basically any servers there were, none specifically. I believe in that time mainly operation desert storm and this other map resembling zatar wetlands but with a lot of reed were played.
A long time later, the 10th guys showed up and it was this server I played on most of the time.
Found my BF2 key finally and got into action the last few days!!!!!
See you on the battlefields, guys!

It's been a LONG time since the last major release. Unprecedented. We just have to wait it out.

I've been playing since then too. I've seen a lot of changes, some good and some that just didn't make sense to me. Take for expample the .7 series... 15 to 20 full servers a night. That may have been just too much fun I guess. Back then was before the big push of youtube videos too, which bring in so many new players now.
After taking a year and two months off I can't really see much change in gameplay yet. I just started playing again and even after taking so much time off it's still the best teamwork fps out there.
Install it and play again. That's the only way you'll know.

In addition to ghettostankk's explanations, I wonder why is almost never an english servers are filled. Don't get me wrong and I don't want to offend anyone, but why are there only ukrainian and russian servers filled with players? It's hard to find anyone actually speaking english on the servers. English servers are there, they are existing. But nobody ever joins them.
About three years ago, there were english servers as well as german servers filled all the time. It was never the case that I didn't understand the language.
What happened now?

The majority of the server have English as their main language.
All the Euro servers are basically english.
Maybe you only play in the morning?
NEW, PRTA, NWA, CIA, HOG, CnL, QRF, TG, and until lately, MerK...
all english.
Only 3ebra, vbios, SAGA and the Brazilians don't "speak" english
