The PR server community is very mixed up at the moment since the fall of many old popular servers that supported the essence of what Project Reality is meant to be. Over time, seeding became more difficult for them when a huge influx of new people came (probably after the 2008 mod award and 2010 contest) and started filling up the more loose servers.
Since the fall of TG, the last standing original serious server; many of the players from there now game on mostly CIA. HOG is also gaining popularity as they lifted their 24/7 Muttrah status to mixed maps. But CIA still stands as the most popular server right now as its always populated even through late at night on US Eastern Time as its a US based server. Others like Hardcore, NwA, PRTA, etc... are popular too but mainly in their timezone/region until they die out.
I've seen a lot of new people continue to join every week and its a good thing. Its just that I want them to experience what I experienced many years ago when I first started on PR...
For me, I've been gaming on CIA since the fall of TG but I've recently moved to HOG with my small circle of friends.
I would love a server that absolutely stand on supporting no roadkilling (like TG). Like seriously, there's not enough time in the world to do such a thing in real life and if you did, your vehicle will get beat up very easily--especially driving a guy into a wall or trees (also include what the BF2 engine doesn't realistically portray: shifting gears duration, braking, turning, accelerating, somehow-invincible-blown-out-windshield-on-technicals, etc). You'll die too with the roadkilling speed seen on these loose servers.
Its much quicker and realistic to grab a rifle and start shooting and fleeing.
Getting run over by a mobile AA that goes around my FOB position like its in a go-kart arena trying to run over all of my squadmates? That's really out of hand. I didn't join PR for this.

TG had it going on. The only thing that can save PR is the PR community. Clans SUCK at it.
Interesting how clans "suck" at saving PR, but on the other side are the ones paying for, administrating and seeding the PR servers. Nwa, CIA, HOG, NEW ...
And what does TG stands for again?

It means TacticalGamer. Its a community, not a clan, that follows or share the same set of ideals and rules that capture the interests of tactical/mature players.

NEW and PRTA are communities as well, not clans.

Well communities have no recruitment or joining process. You can wear their tags without applying an application or something. That's generally how it goes. Whereas clans have a process such as applying through their website or something to be assimilated in.

Yeah, comes down to what Aurian says.
The web says this (amongst other stuff):
A community is more of a place to just hang around and play what you like. You don't need to be active within the forums if you occasionally play on the servers, you don't need to show up to 5v5 matches, get on Ventrilo etc. A community is more open than a clan, and you choose what you want to do.
A clan usually recruits "expert players", has weekly scrims, etc.
Clan definition:
In computer and video gaming, a clan or a guild is a group of players that play online games together. They may play against other clans via matches or challenges, also known as scrims (scrimmages) and wars. A clan's objective can vary from having fun in a competitive environment or participating in more serious tournaments and clan wars.
Note that it says having fun in a "competitive" environment. A community is not competitive, but rather a free for all place for everyone to play for fun and not care about points as much as clans do.

Check out PR-Spy--
Project Reality - PRSPY
.. and the PR:Bf2 Server Feedback Forums for detailed Server-Information
Server Feedback Forums
Servers are usually well administrated when there is an Event (e.g. 3dAC's weekly wednesday or my clan's sunday evening gaming-day). Check
PR Event News - Project Reality Forums for further event information
NEW & *NwA* are my favourites, never had any "administration"problems there.
OD-S, 3dAC and WGP/PRCC servers are always worth joining when they are seeding their servers.

A guy the day before yesterday on Muttrah ran circles around two guys who hide in one of small buildings at the docks. He circled around the poor lads for a minute and a half. Was funny, though.

Yes very "interesting" and BENEFICIAL to the COMMUNITY as opposed to just getting a clan tan.
Tactical Gamer - didn't allow ROAD KILLING, SMACK TALKING to admins, BASE RAPING, RACIAL COMMENTS, SPAMMING MUMBLE, SPAMMING allchat, e.g arguing, complaining, UNBALANCED teams
Thats T-a-c-t-i-c-a-l G-a-m-e-r
As in RESPONSIBLE administration.

Okay lets get this straight
Typing specific WORDS in caps DOESNT make your post sound more VALID.
As in STOP DOING THAT.
Now that we cleared that out...I dont know what seems to be your deal? You are praising here TG as the alpha and omega of server administrating and at the same time your way of dissing other servers is the presence of someone reporting a roadkill on another server. Please tell me you are that much daft that you truly believe that nothing of the stuff you mentioned never ever happened on TG?

I think he's just overly sad that TG is gone, which is actually understandable. I know that feel.

No, that did not get cleared out.
Typing in all caps means emphasis. You use ... I used all caps for emphasis. Deal.
I'm more interested in what servers do for the COMMUNITY of PR, not you puffing your clan chest at me. Check the subject of this thread (Re: Server/Popularity?) for guidance.
Those not in your clan/community fun wagon go there to play Project Reality the way it was intended by the developers. Player decline is due to the servers and how they are "administrated".

As a moderator I'm confused why you are taunting me into a flame war on this thread. Please stop so we can stay on topic. Thanks!

a) I am not pounding my "clan chest" as I personally dont give 2 flying sheets on your opinion of clans
b) I checked the subject of the thread, I checked your previous post, I asked a question. What I didnt get was an answer and judging from your behaviour I dont believe I will get one.
