TBH I understand OP's issue with not knowing how many rounds left but the answer is simple:

Learn and remember a few numbers. 30 rounds for assault rifles, 20 for battle rifles, usually 10 for DMR's, 5 for snipers etc. If in doubt, ask someone else in your squad, someone will know.

Have probably been down to "click, oh nooooo" half a dozen times in as many years :P

Never go into battle with a mag that isn't full - be prepared :p .

Meh, you'll get the feeling eventually. I reload whenever I "feel" it's almost empty. The "click-click" shock almost never happens with me. Well, unless I'm in Vietnam, you use so many bullets there...... :p

Doesnt the AUG have special mags that are see through and let the soldier see how many rounds he/she has left, do they make those for AR's and such?

Think this is a good idea. It doesn't clog up the screen all the time with info many of us know, yet it helps those that don't. PR doesn't have to be as user unfriendly as possible after all. For the new guys to see that the AR takes 100 or whatever bullets might prevent some of this as well.

Doesn't hurt to make the game itself more friendly to the new guys. There are many guns in this game. If you only come online a few times a month remembering how many bullets all the weapons carry isn't always that easy. Sure, many hold 30, and some 20, but not everybody knows how many the MP7 holds, or the PPSH, or the RPK for that matter.

You can buy many many things for your rifle, even some really crazy stuff. So yeah many rifles have an option to have transparent magazines.

Now to the point.
I, and it is only my opinion, believe that even a little experienced shooter (in PR of course) does not need to know how many rounds he has left in the magazine. You just get that feel "...yeah it might have been 25, 27 rounds now?...RELOAD!!!". Playing PR requires patience, playing it good requires skill and the only way to get skill is to play PR often.

What about shotguns ? They're the one I never know :P

Not sure with the 10 rounds DMR, some are 20 and even 30 if I'm not mistaken

Shotguns are 6-8 often... pistols 10-15.

Its not that hard people. Just play for 30 minutes and you got it figured out.

Whenever I shoot a pistol, it feels as if it will never run out of bullets.

Right then. Guess everything has been said.

And a reminder for everyone, a suggestion being discussed does not mean that we like it or that we want it, simply that it warranted a discussion. This did, imo, and now it doesn't anymore. Anyone who wonders about this in future will find this thread when searching. locking.
