Re: Buildable sandbags
Might be a good idea for insurgents so they have something to physically block roads or to provide cover in those weird wide open places cashes sometimes spawn. If the sandbags were replaced with garbage or burnt out cars might make a nice road block deployable for insurgents.

cool , pr bf2 should always receive new types of improvement, and new variables to be added on battlefield

Re: Buildable sandbags
This seems like a good idea. If it could be placed by any average joe and be built in a shorter time than a foxhole, that would be brilliant.

Re: Buildable sandbags
Out of interest, is there a way to make deployables 'half destroyed' (i.e. foxholes hit with a HAT lose half their sandbags) but from then on indestructible? In the sense that if you shot one of them with a HAT in real life, bits would still remain and would probably give some cover from small arms.

Only has 2 states. You could do the destroyed state look a bit less destroyed, kinda like an improvised foxhole, and the full state being as it is now though.

Can't remember if that's what happens currently, but it'd be interesting to see it happen to a sandbag wall. Mind you then it'd make people quite invulnerable if they built 'layers' of them.

I approve this idea. My suggestion would be that they are bit a little faster than foxholes in order to compensate for their non-360 degree cover and smaller size.

CrazyHotMilf: can you release PR 1.0 today cause its my birthday and i want to play it ? because its gonna be very nice and every thing

Not only that but sandbags could be usefull to be build around a static tank for example to give added protection

I wouldnt try to build anything close to a stationary tank. when the asset is being placed it can destroy your tank or apc/IFV.

Re: Buildable sandbags
i thought this was a necro thread but its not. why isnt this in game yet? and I heard someplace that most soldiers carry sandbags around with them, is that true?
If it is, then regular riflemen should be able to make them.
I will always be an advocate for gameplay over realism so many of my suggestions get sort of breezed over, but one of the important things PR has been missing is simulating adaptable cover. Like lying on a rooftop, you might choose to put bricks and wood and scrap in the way to break up your silloette.
So when you consider how sandbags would actually be used ingame, first its going to have a big dumb foundation so its going to be tricky to place and its an excuse to glitch...
...however...
If the emplacement had no foundation and was pretty small and was just a couple of sandbags, like 2 or 3, that might be enough to be both useful for prone cover, and would break your silloette up enough to be used practically. Pr does afterall have a lot of camping and personally if i was on a roof, i would do everything i could to minimise my silloette or else i get a round in the face.

Re: Buildable sandbags
The foxholes are effective to a certain degree. They offer protection but they limit your maneuverability making you an easier target for grenades and AT's while if you have a wall of sandbags, you can move to the sides more.
There is already a static of destroyable sandbag walls that could perhaps be re-textured and coded to work as a deployable. If that would be possible to do, you wouldn't even need a new model.
You can find that static on Asad Khal for example.

Re: Buildable sandbags
regarding the foundation, i would avoid the sand/dirt foundation which is present in current razorwires.
instead i would make the foundation be more sandbags below.
similar to how the insurgent hideout works

Re: Buildable sandbags
The problem with having sandbags would be that they would not provide that much cover compared to the foxholes and would be a pain to get one sandbag to attach to another if you wanted to make a wall out of it. But I always thought that the emplacement system should have a drag and drop type of system. So for example if you chose the emplacement that you want then the emplacement could be dragged into the position you want before it is built. I know that they have an object moving system in the sandbox mod for BF2 and so I was asking if they could implement this type of system into the mod.

Re: Buildable sandbags
Was thinking they would be good for small defensive positions, but more towards providing a bit of cover from snipers and other scoped, ranged weapons, when you are in for example AA and mortars. Also nice for giving some cover in places where the ground is really flat.DoomKillsU wrote:The problem with having sandbags would be that they would not provide that much cover compared to the foxholes and would be a pain to get one sandbag to attach to another if you wanted to make a wall out of it.
I would like having the foxholes more as a "corner-piece" in a big FOB, and sandbags between them as a place you can duck/crawl behind and still have some cover while moving.
