Where's chrisweb to say 1? I always enjoy a good yelling and being called an idiot. :-P

Anyways, I'd go with 2. Yeah, I'm competitive, but it's just a game. Gotta agree with cougar though, not really any good servers to cater to the 1s and 2s anymore. Which is why I don't play much except the occasional match.

1 when I'm a commander or pilot, 2 when I'm a squad leader, 2-3 all other times. I've always found the fantasy of orchestrating/participating in a military operation quite alluring.

1 but that doesn't work on public servers... so that's a 2 I guess. Hence why I also don't play as much as I used to.

1. when flying or squad leading (only on INS though, I can't be as flexible and fast as usually on AAS if it's a squad full of pubbies, which leads to frustration and ragequit).

2. when I am using any other assets or being a squad member.

3. when playing as insurgent

51439503459320459345. "makes wierd noises, listens to music played over mumble, jumps and spins around, walks in circles like a retard when talking, jumps on top of the commander post, finds easter eggs in main bases, complains about bad models of other vehicles in base, talks about everything other than the game, finds funny bugs by using vehicles in base, drops ammo ammo bags onto repair station, tries to jump onto hangars while knowing it's impossible, tries again, gets killed by hesco razor wire, gives BJs to other pilots waiting in base" when waiting for chopper/jet to spawn.. you don't even want to be at base between 3:59:99 and 3:43:00.

~AS my acer 5250 runs at 15fps in cities
25 fps in open terrain
25 fps through optics

my playing style is spot a target call it out
i hang back in a squad i do not like rushing
i do not like clearing rooms
im at the back playin defensive just like the MANY MANY players that play on a laptop/old rig

part of the appeal of PR is you can do this
anyone else brave enough to admit their rig is shit and they get shit fps
there are certain maps i cannot play.

Last time I played on a laptop it always crashed from overheating..
I could literally fry an egg on it

On topic:
Usually 2 or 3 (sadly), not that easy to find a good group that use voice comms.
At least last time I played (mid-2011), now i'm downloading the mod so it's gonna be nice to see what's new.

I chose #1 because I have to be honest about how I play. The servers presently don't cater to this but it just means less playing PR.

My personal stance is that if you do something, you do it to the best of your abilities, and only rarely I actually fool around intentionally(like SniperHAT team on Qwai Infantry, right Ghostwolf?) and as such I'd be a 1 I guess - even if I have no clan. Just to clarify though, since "competetive" is synonymous to "no fun" for some, I'm having fun when I try my best, and I try my best because that's when I have the most fun, so don't worry, I enjoy my time playing :)

I picked competitive.

Ofcourse you can't stay focused during a whole night of PR gaming. You need to relax sometimes and have some fun.

But my goal is to walk around the map with my clanbuddies and kill everything in our past :)

And to succeed with that it requires good coms and focus. (competitive)

I voted 1; think it covers my competitiveness fairly well. I guess I just like to deploy the full amount of effort and skills I have available. Right or wrong, I find it necessary in attempting to win.

The downside of being a perhaps bit more competitive than others, is the risk of the burnout. It will strike at some point, as it stroke me too. Not a funny experience.
Define irony. A bunch of guys playing PR year after year. A game teaching initiative as the prime mover.
However, in regard to EA, these guys never took the initiative.

Its a matter of perception, cause playing with a compensative mindset, to me at least, is big time fun in it self. A blast  However, it is also - at least as a team CO - a lot of practical work, being that risk slider leading to a burnout.

ive commanded teams before michael Denmark. And u dont need to be full on force competetive. Just have fun. U can still win without having to burn yourself out.

DDS wrote:Competitive *thoroughly engaged/committed
I may not have picked the best word for what I meant.

Competitive has different connotations. I meant to say the extreme opposite of someone who is purely a casual player in PR (#5) and not very interested in the outcome (win/lose) of the game. Where as a "committed" player is. Hope that clarifies.

I would say to you Wicca that being 'competitive' is not a bad thing either. Some players just have that level of drive that others don't and have just as much fun.

I play competitive and have never experienced any burn out. Frustrated yes, burn out no. More please.

=1, but teamwork is not a nessecary part of this. Squadwork is more important, which could be considered teamwork, for example today on Basrah, I was squadleading, all I did was build hideouts and then I was done building hideouts we used civis and made smart attacks using every available means, techis/bombcars, etc. Once inawhile I would get intel on enemy posisitons via mumble but at the most I would tell them we are on our way and use "Vehicles on the way". I've also played many high organized teamwork events/tournaments and I have to say that teamwork really does not NESSECARILY change how competitive a person is, from my view. I've seen the most organized teamwork players seem like they are auto-pilot because it's usually the same recycled commanders and squadleaders, doing things the same way they always have and while I'm not saying for 60% of people probably do gain competitive feelings along with teamwork, it's just not one in the same. There is a connection to be made, like Salt and Sodium. Just as many times I play on my own with a combat engineer insurgent kit and do just fine without any teamwork whatsover. Simply run 15 ammo boxs to an intersection, place 30 mines, 10 IEDs, and have a smoke. The only way the team affects me in this case in negative when they spawn on unknowns which in case my version of teamwork is reporting unknown spawners to admins that care.
