It would be nice to have the option to choose between Live Feed (with delay) and Screenshot Feed (without Delay) or setup/limit FPS of the Live Feed.

The point is that a Live Feed uses a lot of bandwidth so for infantry, giving the ability for the player to take a screenshot and all other squad mates to see it right away, would be more then enough. If the player takes a new screenshot, it replaces the previous one he took.

The other option is to limit FPS to reduce the feed's delay... it doesn't need to have 30/25 FPS all the time. It could even be a automatic screenshot/frame per 10 or 30 seconds as not to have it too over powering.

I understand this might have been done mostly for vehicles and a proper live feed works best but if this gets used by infantry, a live feed might be too much.

One 320x180@15fps stream in h264 takes just about 200kbit/s so if you have at least 1mbit/s it will be OK. You also can limit the FPS as you like before streaming.

holy shit yes please, this would definitely help the commander, combined with the UAV, this would really make the commander a desirable role.

Are you expecting every SL to bother with broadcasting and CO's asking everyone about this? Its not as easy to use as mubmle, and remember how many used mubmle before mumble 1.0 released.
I'd say you can use it only with ur friends and clan.

It would be cool if you would make it limited so that the Commander is the only receiver, and depending on who actually carries a helmet cam in reality, I'm guessing SQL's, Spotter and maybe some heavy assets, are the only ones who may distribute such a live feed.

Are you required to be streaming to use it or can you use it only to receive someone elses stream? And is it easier to setup if only for watching a stream instead of for streaming aswell?

I see not everyone understands how exactly is that works.
You just broadcast whatever you like (not only PR) and the app just displays it.

Sure its possible to limit things and integrate with server-side specially for PR, but there is some issues that needs to be solved like who will pay for and host at least 2-4 (to have the best ping for as many as possible ppl from different countries) really good servers with big bandwidth to handle these streams? Lets say there is a total 500 players playing PR, then its 7 full severs and max 126 SLs (300*126 ~ 38mbit/s of bandwidth * multiply on rtmp-servers count to broadcast the same) who will broadcast and 14 CO who will receive it, plus how many assets crew i dont know.
tl;dr - its expensive and a lot of work needs to be done before it becomes possible/expedient.

Setting up a server is the easiest part actually.
I'll add the tutorials in the first post later.

No, you dont need to stream anything to receive someone elses stream. For exampe you can just input specific address in the settings and watch some random stream from twitch.tv

Isn't it possible to sort of make it like the mortal calculator program also in overwolf?

You are broadcasting to a channel you name say, CMDR.
the receicer puts in those exact words in his receive thing
like this:
BROADCAST[X] CHANNEL NAME: CMDR
RECIEVE:[] CHANNEL NAME:
grey=can't interact(since the recieve box isn't checked.)

In case of MS-app there is used a little server to host these channels, but this server only processes a bunch of text. To handle the video streams with decent amount of people i'd need a much better server.

This application will be awesome for clans like CnL for exemple where everyone is from the same country and we have a dedicated server in the same area in sweden.
I think this will need some work if we ganna use it for a hole team in pr.
I'd say you can use it only with ur friends and clan.

Still waiting for approval ?

Will it be possible to load the helmetcam footage from twitch? As in, our squad members have a twitch account and are broadcasting to twitch and can see each other's stream using overwolf with your app. The app would need to downscale it of course but that way you don't need to have dedicated servers for the stream as long as you can add the twitch link.

Yep, still waiting.
The app doesn't care which server you will use, be it twitch or whatever, the problem here is lag.
Have you tested how much is stream delayed? For me its 6 seconds. Nuff said.

Having own server and streaming with VP6 codec minimizes the delay to 0.1-0.3 seconds so its comfortable for gaming.
