Oh boy.
When you fire your HAT, you will get an completely empty slot, because you only have 1. When you use 1 magazine from your rifle, you'll get 1 out of 6 empty slot, other 5 magazines will still be in place. When you throw 1 smoke, you will get 1 out of 2 empty slot, other smoke will be in your pocket.
Completely empty slot requires bit more than a half ammuniton (personal experience) from 1 ammo bag. With this kindergarten math, you can resupply 1 completely empty slot (HAT in this case) and some additional equipment (1 smoke OR 3-4 rifle magazine in this case).

On Muttrah few months ago, I used up my my HAT and reloaded my rifle, by accident. I didn't rearm my HAT. This is the point I'm trying to make. It directly contradicts yours. Fuck it, I'm gonna test it myself then.
EDIT. To my amazement it
works ON co-op and local. Have to test it online... Were there any changes made regarding ammo distribution in 0.98?

It should work online too, I just tried to reload my ammo bag from(lol) ammo bag after wasting 1-2 magazines and I was kinda surprised when it worked. Unlimited ammo

This can't be possible in MP. I remember rearming my ammo bag from an ammo bag only when I didn't use anything else. Times have changed...

Both things have happened to me, I reloaded 1 mag and the hat by only using one ammo bag in another match I only try to reload only the hat with one ammo bag and it doesn't reload, kind of weird

It doesnt work online. An ammo bag only rearms a HAT so long as you haven't used any other equipment. I cant tell you how many times i've fired one magazine of my M4 and then only had one ammo bag. Shit pisses me off.
The rifleman ammo bag is a known bug, though. I think they even have a thread about it in the bugs section.

I never had any problem with ammo bags, just don't stand right on top of it. Some objects in PR are just angry all the time, such as crates and mines. Crates can smash you if you make them nervous with a shotgun, mines will try to run away if you throw rocks at them. BF2 engine should take the blame I guess.

Awesome - I didn't realise the rifleman kit has effectively unlimited ammo!
As for the HAT missile or field dressing using up the ammo, I seem to remember mixed results. i.e. reloading 1 magazine or 2 and still being able to load a new HAT.
Obviously there are confounding factors, someone running past the ammo bag, you running near a supply crate to request the rifleman kit etc.
All I'd like to add is that from memory Fanda is correct. Again we could test this all to exhaustion online. Alternatively we could go into the files and look at the code to see the numbers. (Although I'm at work atm...)
Cheers, Murkey.

I'll repeat this for the last time, when you use your field dressing and then throw your ammo bag to resupply your field dressing, you are resupplying BOTH AMMO BAG AND FIELD DRESSING. And 1 ammo bag is not enough to resupply 2 empty slot of your inventory. If you still can't get what I'm saying, I can't help you.
I understand that. Imho this should be fixed, ofc if its possible. For instance, with blocking Ammo slot after throwing bag, so we can only resupply it near supply crate or small crate.

You proved me wrong. I apologise if I came across as a ****, which I probably did.

Here is a visual example of how the infinite ammo rifleman works and how the heavy AT guy should conserve his ammo and avoid using his field dressing to be able to reload the AT from one ammo bag.
If your being creative you can figure out that 2 ammo bags give you not 2 but 3 extra HAT's and the reload is twice as fast
2 x Ammo bags = 190 unit's x 2 = 380 unit's
3 x HAT's = 300 unit's = <380 unit's
When rearming its all or nothing meaning that if you tried to reload your HAT and there wasn't enough in the bag then you still need 100 units to rearm.

But what about field dressing: Does ammo bag resupply field dressing infinite amount of times or doesn't resupply at all?
I am still confused...

Field dressings is counted as "ammo" and therefore you need to be careful not to spend your field dressing if it can be avoided.
One Field dressing is 100 units if you have only one
Rifleman has 1 field dressing = 100 units per field dressing
Officer has 3 field dressings = 33.3 units per field dressing
Medic has 12 field dressings = 8,3 units per field dressing
So to compare: A medic can resupply about 22 (100/12*22=<190) field dressings where as a rifleman will only get 1 (100/1*1=<190) from 1 ammo bag.

Great explanation Gracler, much more clear and understandable than mine. Good stuff.

Not to be an *** or anything, but where did those numbers come from?

tests... so don't take it as being 100% correct. Actually I think 1 bag has between 190-195 units in it.

Very clear Gracler, nice work.
I still haven't looked into the code to get the proper numbers but it's on my to-do list.
I did a little testing online yesterday and can confirm what you guys have been saying in this thread.
*As the Chinese rifleman with 8 mags and Chinese HAT with 6 mags:
1) Using 2 assault rifle magazines as a rifleman then dropping the ammo bag fully rearms both the bag and the magazines.
2) Using all 6 assault rifle mags and a HAT missile from the HAT kit still allows everything to be rearmed from a single ammo bag.
*Tested on the 3dAC training server.
I'll post the numbers from the game files at some point.
Cheers, Murkey.
