I figured it out on my end, not sure if its the same for everyone but;
After importing a profile from BF2 (or retrieving an account), the game would shut down after clicking Play from the launcher. The screen would turn black and switch resolutions around like it always has, but then just go to the desktop with the unloading resources window from the launcher.
I deleted the profile and retrieved it again, but instead of letting the launcher select the password, I manually backspaced it to delete it and typed it in. Problem solved.
If I had to guess, this is evidence the launcher isn't correctly saving things (as mentioned).

My game runs up until the moment you hit login. It then says that: "An unhandled exception has occured. Details as follows:
Access is denied
Ect.
Sometimes it says that the "process has exited" (specifying some random number)

My game now runs if I restart my computer and run in as quick as possible, it then a couple of minutes in, crashes, before it is even possible to get past the server loading screen

The1astReaper, are you running as a windows account with admin privileges?
The1astReaper, pretty certain your install of PR is dead, but it might be because of directory read/write protections.
Can you take a screenshot of the exact error messages and post it here? I can't diagnose with the limited info you've shared so far.

Is there any fix for the cleaning recources problem yet? Besides the renaming folders one which is not working for me at all.
Just launching the game, selecting server, joining and poof, back to desktop with a quick window saying "Cleaning PR:BF2 Recources".

Hello there !
I've tried all the technics above and no one worked.
So I decided to make this game working by myself...
And...I've figured out that my
FireWall was blocking PR !
So I
authorized the program in my FireWall settings and now, it's working !

I believe this could be the problem.
you have a documents\projectreality\profile\0001\video.con file that needs to be changed.
My PC died this morning, so I can't give specifics, I hope someone else can offer more exact instructions to check this.

The problem for me after hours of looking was my firewall, you might think, "firewall? isnt that just blocking servers?" No. When the black screen happens its logging you in and if you have AVG 2013 like me your firewall automatically blocks it when it tried to log you in, after the game cant access the internet it shuts down giving you that message, so you need to run it windowed mode and open AVG (if thats your security program) and set the firewall to interactive mode. Then when you start it itll ask you 2 times if you want to allow or deny Bf2 PR through the firewall, click allow and it will forever be allowed through! Worked for me
