I just dont see the implementations of this :) Why would someone NOT want to bury their item? simply to make the footprint smaller and hide it in a box or under a rock? We might as well have not included the buried asset feature in that case :P

It will have better impact against surface targets further away and it will be more of an obvious dettertent if so intended, thats why.

I don't know if possible but here a suggestion.
You can switch your firing mode through pushing 3 with your main weapon.
Is it possible to do that for IED's as well?
like buried and non buried?

ye, since the explosion doesn't need to escape out of the ground and as such, most of it going directly up from the point the IED is buried underground, it can have a much larger shrapnel damage radius which will be good vs infantry :)
But since its not buried it will be harder to hide, which means instead of burring it in the middle of the road, you will need to hide it in a bush or something at the side of the road.

On top of that, it would also be faster to place down too since you don't need to dig a hole, place it in their, arm it and then cover it back up again, instead you would just pop it down and arm it ;)

For these reasons we are considering it but the main problem in its way is the amount of free weapon slots in the sapper etc kits, since we need separate weapon slots for the two types of deployment method (can't have 3 or more I should also point out, you can only "mag link" between two weapons)

Nope sorry, fire rate can only control fire rate in BF2 :(

Hey, if you just add the visible IED and buried IED to the sapper kit STD and ALT modes.
STD = normal buried IED (landmine IED, who would not bury their landmine?)
ALT = not buried ied (mortar ied, make it use same model than the artillery shell ied, perhaps?

And, uhh, I am not sure whether the mine IED actually is vehicle detonated? Because it has no point if it is not vehicle detonated, it's just useless.

Yes I support this, it'd be nice to be able to plant it fast at the risk of exposure or take your time if you don't want it exposed.

I know for sure that sometimes I would love to hide IED's in boxes and etc where they can't be seen and do not need to be dug down.

Talking of which, yesterday I tried to plant an ied inside vehicle (some prop vehicle) but the damn IED bugged 50/50 on the roof - air, therefore it could be seen from miles away lol.
