thank you for sharing the first hand knowledge on the overclocked C2D E8400,

keep in mind he'll need to buy a CPU+mobo+DDR3 RAM, to get up and running.

THat might be your best bet if you really want to upgrade and spend money,
i3-3220 or i3-3225
Z77 motherboard
DDR3 RAM, preferably 1600Mhz, preferably 8GB, but 1333Mhz would be sufficient for PR but not for newer games.
