another aspect to keep in mind is that currently tanks are grossly under armoured (or you could say that most other weapon systems are grossly overpowered).
When we release v0.41 the only thing that will be able to kill tanks easily will be:
Hvy AT
Stationary TOW launchers
Other tanks main guns
Attack Helicopter Gunner operated missiles (the rocket's won't be too effective versus tanks)
Attack Jets
where as today:
Light AT
APCs
... are also on that list.

lol to egg mans sig!!!!
o, and i love the vehilce crew change and .41 changes also sound great - APC is alittle overpowered, mabey realistic but cannon + AT missile is just morally wrong in PR!

If it has a TOW mounted a Hippo could kill a tank.

a btr-90 could be able, but most times, it would be the other way round

Umm no. When it works for people who are actually trying there is no need to change it so it becomes easier to half *** again.
Crewed armour is more effective than non. When you can have two pair of eyes and a gunner who is free to look in any direction that is much more effective than 1 person trying to multi task.

As people mentioned Vehicle VoIP would fix it, or better yet make an "Area" VoIP where people in your are can hear you.

The problem is that the BF2 engine isn't capable of simulating a lot of the advantages of a real tank. Sights, stabilizers, range, firing on the go, etc. A APC, at least the ones in game, could kill tanks for sure, but it'd be pretty unlikely in real life.

The best choice would be a com channel inside the vehicle. All who are inside the vehicle where ur in, only those can hear you.

Why is it so hard to make a freakin squad?

'[R-DEV wrote:eggman']we're working on improving the vehicular combat for 041.
as we have now 'team locked' vehicels, could you 'squad lock' vehicles?

lol.
hehe ...
mics are $6
squads are free
voip is free
seeing people make suggestions where we would spend dozens of hours to provide a less robust solution than already provided.. priceless
I'm not a chatty ***** when it comes to games, but er... ya kinda hafta chat it up a bit and be in a squad to operate armor in PR.
Make an armor squad, restrict it to VOIP folks, talk.
also we *hope* that the next release will require Tanker kits to operate armor (working the kinks out now). This will avoid someone coming along and hopping into your APC and driving away with it when you were in a perfect position to cover your infantry squad.
btw next release APCs carry 8 folks (driver, gunner + full squad of 6) and .. wait for it .. the TOW launchers are removed from the APCs. Oh and they are mobile spawn points

ever since i heard about first person shooters, i immediately got a mic. I mean, isn't it more fun to use teamwork for faster communication? I think everyone should have it.

Ooh! That's sweet. Does this mean Blackhawks will have some more seats too?
Exmaple:
2 Cabin - pilot and co pilot (not sure what this co pilot's role would be exactly, so discuss it)
2 Gunners
6 seats in back to transport a whole squad.
Thats 10 total or 9 minus the co pilot.

The blackhawk have 7 seats. Pilot + full squad.

That's cool! couldn't squeeze in another 2 could you? just so blackhawk crew (pilot and gunners) are seperate from full squad in back. There's plenty of empty seats in back!
No worries if not
Also, I noticed today, if you're seated in the rear left side of the BH and look over to the position of the guy in the rear right hand seat, you see that he's half in/half out. The floor of the BH seems to run straight through his chest.

Yeah, and when you try to exit that seat, you get TK'd because the BH crushes you :-\

Talking of APC's, will the guys travelling inside the apc, not the driver or gunner still be able to shoot through the small windows. I'd prefer it they couldn't. Or at least they'd have to use there own rifles. And are there any plans to include a crosshair/ iron sight/ gun model for the gunners??
