Yeah, and "Where's my batman?: over!"

Back on topic, I reckon the officers should be getting personal protection weapons of some sort or standard assault rifles and lots of support gadgets, like binos, target designators, coloured smoke etc. After all I'd have thought their major role is direct others and not to directly engage the enemy.
28 days minimum in a zone of conflict: nice easy job chasing "local totty" & hob-nobbing with papa's chums will see the shiny medallions pinned to their chests.

How about that gun they have that can shoot around corners. Man that would make the person that got killed pissed. I know it won't happen but man that would totally mess up the balance.

Any gun can shoot around corners, aiming is another thing though. :-D

No, its this gun I was looking at on FutureWeapons, it could turn 90degrees and had a little TV that you could look at since the little camera was mounted on the part of the gun that pivots. It would make combat safer for the troops in urban combat.

How about people stop using the excuse of a new kit to start acting out their every weapon fantasies? Officers are no more armed than your basic grunt, they're by no means snipers. They're the ones who ride at the heart of the convoy and direct orders. Their rifle is for their own defence, they're not killing machines. They generally carry a sidearm too, and are unlikely to carry specialist equipment such as explosives, if we're talking about infantry officers.

And please, stop with the British stereotyping. It really isn't funny. That's like me saying the American officer should say "I'M GONNA' POP A CAP IN YO' ***" instead of "Go, go, go!", because well, all the Americans we see on TV say that.

Easy there. We were just kidding around. No offense, it's not meant in a bad way.

PS: Some guy (tank commander, I believe) actually shouted "tally ho!" when charging ahead during Desert Storm... 8)

Yeah, sorry to go off on one, it's just people do like to stereotype us British with the same jokes every time!

Anyway, like I said, the British officer (at least) need not be the super soldier of the team. Officers, if anything, carry less than their specialised team mates. Perhaps this could be countered with improved accuracy or something, but an Officer needn't be the saviour to his team. If anything, Squad Leaders should have an "NCO" kit, representing the "Super-Grunt" layout that you guys seem to want, and the purely commissioned officer kit could be available to the Commander, which doesn't offer any major upgrades, but it gives him, say improved health, accuracy, and probably more ammunition, representing the fact that Officers don't generally see as much battle as the grunts, they're trained to handle more situations than grunts and they're generally the ones who "stay cool" under pressure, supporting their comrades. I dunno, just an idea!

The problem with corner shot is that its pretty much already obsilete as no western military will invest in it because they already have thier "Future Soldier" plans well on the way to completion (FIST, FELIN, Land Warrior, etc) which can do more or less everything that corner shot does but with out having to buy compeletly new weapons.

It's already been done anyway...... 60 years ago by the Germans:

Ah, bendy barrels on Stg.44s! I also believe there is a modification of the M3A1 grease gun that is similar.

EDIT: ah yes, here we are:

'[R-MOD wrote:A.J.Sawyer']LR300 is not a standard issue rifle, and as such would not fit in with the realism themes of the Mod.
No offense but why do we have the minimap then?
