If you were fixing a bridge or APC or whatever and an enemy gets in hand to hand with you or close enough for you to bash him then you'd bloody bash him. Hell, i'd beat someone to death with my helmet if that's all I had. Not everyone in war dies from gun and shrapnel wounds.
As you said yourself, this is a reality mod, there-fore I back wrench bashing100%
so the miltery hands out magic fix it all wrench's, and puts you into hand to hand combat with them?
i think ill have to pop down my recruiting office and sign up for Close Quarter Wrench Combat.
the wrench is a improvised weapon. rather than somthing your trained to go into combat with, ok so in RL you can beat people with wrench's but next people will want to be beating each other with box cutters, brooms, bits of piping and wheel barrows,
i got a better weapon than a wrench a team mate, if people have manged to sneak up to you and u have to depend on a wrench to save your self where were you team mates?

I'm sorry but I can't understand your point. The magic fix-it-all wrenches is a different subject. Yes, it sucks that you can fix anything just by walking up to it and holding left click but what do you want? A f*cking animation of a crane or hoards of AI controlled bots bringing out pieces of metal and hammering and screwing for half an hour? There's limits to what can be done.'[5NFSO wrote:Thunder']so the miltery hands out magic fix it all wrench's, and puts you into hand to hand combat with them?

Using the wrench as a possible weapon though surely is possible. And to me, I don't see why people would want to be able to use box cutters, brooms or bits of piping and wheel barrows because they're not items in any of the kit's inventories. If a soldier is caught off guard whilst he's using a tool, you'd expect him to fight for his life with that tool.
Spec ops should be able to bash with their binocs (until they break!) Any item that's hard enough in the kit inventories to inflict damage on someone should be able to be used in such situations. It's reality.
And yes, the army doesn't teach specific wrench combat but it sure as hell teaches close quarter combat with a variety of hand held weapons. What use is a soldier who can't hold his own in a good old brawl? If the wrench is there, use it!

Completely agree. There are far more things that need attention, I just get a little wound up when people think it's unrealistic to fight dirty.'[R-CON wrote:fuzzhead']IMO this would be a waste of time to code, the time would be better spent elsewhere....
if your gonna code it, go ahead, otherwise I dont think its worth the time...

I agree it would be cool and useful but it isn't the most important thing right now,
haha I get this picture in my mind from Saving Private Ryan when the Sergeant comes around a corner and runs into a german, his rifle clicks, so he throwes his helmet.. I mean use what you've got, if you are holding a wrench then smash his face with it.

Oh come on ... this is comedy right?Bodybag2224 wrote:First off the topic sounds a little dirtyops:
But the idea is a good idea, if it was included it shouldn't be a one hit kill, maybe a stun that would give the engineer enough time to switch to his shotgun.
Next thing we will hear is that there should be a Melee attack that kicks your enemy in the nuts, resulting in the blurry coughing animation, until you get fixed.
