[NEW] is getting all the glory hehe ! But yes I really do like the MeRk admins for when they ask people to switch, hardly see it on any other servers but hey that's just me!

I think there should be more organized gameplay nights made instead. E.g.

Clans sign up and get decided before they join the server on what teams they are on etc

Well something like that anyway

I kinda just wish !scramble was automated at the start of every round, since it attempts to keep people with the same clan tag together anyway, it might just move them around to the losing team or whatever.

I think an automatic scramble is a very extreme solution.
Furthermore some unlucky guys could get switched always to OpFor, and even worse, a public squad with good guys gets splitted.

I'd prefere to confrontate the community with this issue to sensitize them, sothat it creates a certain pressure to follow certain fairness standards.

Thanks for the very clean thread so far :)

If you got scrambled every round as "public" player without clantag you cant play together with familiar people if you are unlucky, i dont think its a good idea.

Fully agreed, and that is why I dislike [NEW], it's the most clan stacked server of all PR. That does not mean it will really be unbalanced, but I don't even feel confortable to join a squad with clan tags. On my personal experience, they tend to ignore you and/or keep speaking their language (specially the french and russians). You don't feel you are a member of that small team, just an intruder that they can't kick because of the server rules.

This is probably the biggest issue with clans. However most people, mainly older players, have a specific group of players they play with. Just because they don't have tags, it does not mean strangers aren't less intrusive, yet newcomers aren't aware of it. Why is that? Well, because the majority of the people have no problem playing with random pubbers.

That said, I hate to see locked squads (clan or not), INF squads to be precise, which are not at full capacity.

I don't support the idea of a global scramble command at round end. PR has always built itself around the concept of familiarising/socialising with your squad and to some degree with other people on your team. By taking away that, PR loses one of it's core values and it will drift towards a large scale anonymous team deathmatch.
The responsibility of balancing lies in the hands of good players (not clan people, because there are plenty of clans out there that suck balls). A round ends heavily in favour of one side? Talk to your team at match end and see how you can balance it out. That's what NEW does and despite clan stack of incomparable scale, the games turn out more often than not balanced.

I agree that friends should be allowed to play with friends. I also agree that teamstacking happens. It has always happened in every single online game I have ever played. There just isn't anything you can do about it. It's up to the individuals to balance the teams.

I think it is best to let the individuals and the server admins to police this problem. If one team is getting consistently steamrolled, and people are leaving the server as a result, then it is time for the server admins to step in.

I for one am almost always on the side getting owned. I have no problem with this. I keep trying. If it's not fun anymore, I leave the server. I cannot hope to control the behaviors of others.

The problem i have with complaints about stacking is that to win at pr skills like coordination communication and teamwork are more important than twitch skills. In other words if a team cant win it isnt because it is bad but because it can not be bothered to apply what is needed to win.

Become part of a team in this teamgame yourself or at least look for familiar nicks choosing your server.

You also don't get better if you're consistently steamrolled/crushed in short periods of time because the skill gap is so wide as to preclude any possibility of effective resistance.

This is definitely a European problem mainly, and primarily on MeRk/NEW in my experience.

On MeRk, I and a few other admins prefer to switch to balance teams, but not all do. If teams are unbalanced during a round, we may not(as a group) want to switch, and asking other clans to just join a different team and start from scratch is a bit ridiculous. Some clans actually offer to switch when a server is unbalanced in my experience(Huge thank you to GREX\\, [CSF] and [WGP] in particular), but this is not common.
Another problem is that if there are 12 MeRk on our server, we can't switch to even teams; we'll just stack it the other way, and we may not want to be split up.

In general, the best solution we have is to wait for the round to end and fix it then. Even this has problems, though. I've been trying to fix teams like this, and one or two whole clans will leave after the round, making the fixing insanely complicated. People often don't realise that moving a clan to one side generally stacks the AFKs to the other, too, balancing it the other way. Even worse, after this one person from a clan might load in on the slightly better side, and then another, etc. until that side is hugely stacked and they're already playing, so can't be switched too easily.

People on our server are always telling us it's unbalanced, and we usually know. It's not a simple thing to fix, especially during a round. If people want balanced games, they have to help, but a clan-stacked side doesn't usually want a balanced game.

And even if we decide to offer us(WGP) as a switch-able party during imbalanced rounds, it's not guaranteed that we can fix the lopsided balance, sometimes the few capable players left in the weaker team leave during the round, given us less to work with. Most of the times the team then has multiple holes to fix, Armour, APCs, CAS, Infantry and Support, leading us to sometimes play APC or Tanks knowing that we will lose the round if we do our Infantry or Recon shenanigans.

That being said, we're glad to help, even if it irks us at times.

From my experience the MERK admins do their best to balance teams and its really hard to do this in the middle of a round. Stacked teams are often created not on purpose because clan mates are joining one by one every 10min...
And even if you try to balance after a map, there are people who are leaving in the beginning.

Not to raise a dead thread, but I found this team stacking thread from 2005 in the forums. Nearly 10 years ago for this mod!

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-pr ... about.html

Unfortunately, there is nothing new about this, and not a lot you can do about it. It happens in every game I've ever played.

If you're on the team that is getting rolled, use the remainder of the round to try and rally your forces for the next one.

Yes it's an issue on most servers, even US servers occasionally.

Plus, there are clans that are VERY good at playing PR, so they will dominate the round a lot of times. (I can name a few.... prWars, WGP... just a few examples)

But, I find it funner. Since most of those clans tend to 'defend' more than attack. But the biggest issue is; Clans just HOG the assets. So no others have oppertunites to use them... or at least join their squad of it.

I can name a lot of times where I have witnessed this issue. I just think clans taking all the assets are the problem. (I remember once, a clan had one armor squad... on Saaremma, Trans, then CAS squad) So no one had the opertunity to use them.... if they joined, they got kicked imeediatly.

But, hasn't there been tons of these threads?

To add on a bit... I have seen new players dominate clans a few times. (I guess they are determined to prove that they are good players, and you shouldn't f*** with em). But I love playing against clans....
There are a lot of clans that think they are "PRO PR PLAyerS". Which, they end up getting wrecked by using the same tactics that got them killed.

But, I can agree a lot of times where I saw a lot of players leave when a huge clan was on the other team, people started leaving.

I like the randomize idea at the beginning of a round. If you have 10 clan mates on the server its very likely you will end up playing with 5 of them anyway. Randomizing gets people to mix (literally and socially) and spreads the ability. The community is not that huge and most people have played with one another so mixing it should not be a big problem. Clans can stack on clan evenings and special events or possibly on their own server.
What really irks me though is when one side is 5 ppl down ie 25 Vs 30 and people keep joining the stacked side (or dont come over to the team needing players) this almost inevitably leads to more people leaving the team with fewer players compounding the problem and then to server death.
We are all aware of the problems that can occur. This is a community. Be the change you want to see! if a team looks stacked switch sides.

I hate the randomize idea at the beginning of a round. PR is a teamgame. People whom work well with each other shouldnt be trust in a "free kits" team or one where the squadmembers are less inclined to listen to the squadleader.

Rather than breaking up the cohesion and teamwork that allows the "tags" to perform so well one should worry about improving the gameplay of the players that get steamrolled rather than to dilute the good experience the other players have.
Be cooperative, join a group (clan) yourself. It aint like you are put through a beating in.

The other day (well yesterday) I made a mortar squad on la drang where I wanted half the squad running mortars and the other half in the field with me (so 5 people wouldnt be idle around the mortar pit and I could spot targets from where the fighting happens) . 3 guys were really cooperative, the rest basically ignored anything I said. The result the mortars were up late, the first volley cut them down good by the time I had reassigned a target we were already in close combat.

If I am on a team were people work toegether I dont want to be randomized into a team were people do not and expect somone else to do the boring stuff, like building FOBs.

So basically "I wanna have a good game on the good team, and fuck everyone else if they can't compete"?
